+1..the thing about simms that stood out to me from those comments is that he doesn't get the he was making mistakes. He thought he was playing a good game and thinks there was no reason to take him out. If he doesn't understand there is problem, there is no chance he is going to correct it. Just like with an AA simms, the first step is admitting you have a problem.

Good point. He wasn't going to start getting rid of the ball faster if he thought he was doing everything right. I assume the coaches saw this as well and figured Simms is as good as he is going to get. Bray however, is just getting started and is already playing just as well.

I support the coaching staff's decision but let's not throw Simms under the bus. he seems to be very frustrated right now and that's understandable, but I hope he keeps competing to earn the starting job.
that being said, we are going 4-0 in November. I still believe in this team.

Surely Bray won't be in the entire game. So, do we finally get to see Nance play? Is he anywhere near ready? If the score is right, then I hope Dooley gives Nance some game experience. That's no knock on Simms, who's already had plenty trial by fire.

You will only see Nance on the sidelines. Simms is a serviceable quarterback but he doesn't seem to have that extra something. He is sorta of like Rick Clausen... we need someone like Casey.

I think Simms would come in if Bray falls apart, but look for CDD to try to keep Bray as the man to build stability and towards the future.

Absolutely no more QB rotation, if Bray is the guy start him the entire game, I hate rotating quarterbacks in and out.

This move is as much about next season as it is this season! The two QBs look about even to me (look at the stats from the game) and if they are even, then we should play the guy with the biggest upside... the guy who will most likely start next season. This move makes a lot of sense to me! JMO

Before Simms' first fumble, we had a play that was wiped from the records because of our timeout. On that play, Simms held the ball too long and was sacked. At the time, we were thankful that the play didn't count because of a timeout that was called, but not heard on the field.

Simms goes to the sidelines, receives some coaching, and goes back out and does the exact same thing, except this time he fumbles the ball.

If you watched him after the play, he and Dooley are having a heated exchange where Simms essentially says, over and over again, "I understand that coach, I understand that coach." However, he was clearly acting like an annoyed child in the way he was dealing with CDD's instructions and criticism. I would have to imagine that did not please CDD very much.

Fast forward to the second half where the exact same thing happens again, and you can clearly understand why Simms was pulled. His comments after the game further illustrate why, in my opinion, CDD is justified in playing Bray as the starter. Simms is overly confident and seems unwilling to take the criticism, coaching that would have saved him the starting job. Confidence is great, but not at the expense of undermining your coach and teammates.

Let's go Vols! The future starts on Saturday.

Had to be done. Simms needs to keep his mouth shut now and try to improve as a player.

No reason to put Simms down. He did his job and i applaud him for taking the hits and sticking in there while our o-line improved. Now it is time to move on and give the ball to the "Future".
We also need to consider that Simms will be one hit away from being back at the helm.

Happy to see Bray being the starter, but if we lose this game, it's going to get really ugly. (Not that it wouldn't be anyways, but if we lose because Bray makes freshman mistakes, we will likely have to endure the debate until the day Simms leaves.)

If we lose this game we need to just not show up the rest of the season.

Awesome! It's exciting when he play's it seems he isn't afraid at all to throw that deep ball(more importantly, complete it) and that's something we havn't saw in a long time.
