This is the problem in Knoxville too many old farts think that the game of football is about them. They fail to realize it is about the kids. They just get the privilege to watch them turn from boys to men as they grow through the program. ie (VFL)

That is the problem you care more about the color of the jersey than you do winning. I guess you would rather look good and lose as opposed to looking bad and winning.

No, I care more about winning than anything. Including 3rd grade gimmicks to get the fans pumped up for the pre-game activities.

So does Dooley, write him a letter and take your beef up with him. We aren't wearing black jerseys. Build a bridge and get over it.

They may not wear black uniforms on Saturday, but several people with connections have said they expect some type of surprise from Dooley and co. on Saturday. May not be black jerseys, but I don't think Dooley is 100% against these so-called "3rd grade gimmicks."

A question for Johnny:

If the color of jerseys don't have anything to do with the team's performance, then why does it matter to you what color the kids wear? Are you cheering the kids or would you be just as happy with a box of Creamsicles?

Because I don't think it's a good idea for our players to need gimmicks to get "more pumped up" to play a SEC game.

Some of these posters are true idiots. WTF is wrong with wearing black jerseys? A lot of programs with rich traditions do stuff like this all the time. People think it's going to jeapordize our traiditions? Wow. You really are dumb if you think this doesn't help recruiting. It gets these guys pumped up and pretty much every other program does it. You want wins and I imagine they do too but let them wear a black jersey if they want to and not fuss about it.

And for the couple of post asking if it's legal to switch jerseys at half time, yes. Many, many teams have switched jersey's at half time. Michigan, Notre Dame, USC, Ole Miss etc....

I don't think any player has said we need this to win. They want to do it for fun. Or should we tell them there should be no fun of anything kind at UT
