Bray has been overrated

He is the 4th best quarterback in the SEC. But, once he learns how to read a defense and gets better run support, then look out. He does need to show more class though. My coach always said, "Act like you have been there before".

At this point, I would agree with #4.

I would take Bray over Shaw. For now at least. Not over the other two based on his performance so far, although he does have "more talent" than either of them.

Jim Drunkenmiller had a lot of "talent", too, though.

I am not saying that Bray is the reason we are losing...I would much more so blame our lack of a running game and poor special teams. I am saying that all of the NFL and heisman talk surrounding Bray is a joke at this point. Heck, there were quite a few folks crowning him as the next Peyton.

No, actually you listed it as one of your reasons why your friends think he is over rated.

My advice would be to have your own thoughts and let your friends have theirs.

Most importantly, I am a UT alumni and bleed orange. Several of my close friends are Uga and Aub grads and they all find it very comical that Vol fans and media were/are hyping Bray as a premiere qb in the SEC. They all tell me I need to wake up and take my orange tinted glasses off. I have to finally admit that his resume thus far isn't very compelling. Here is what they said:

Here's there argument as to why Bray is overhyped and a joke:
1. He hasnt beaten a ranked team or even been close(within a TD) and he does the throat slash and other cocky gestures when he has had 2 losing seasons.
2. He slings the ball up for grabs alot and UT's receivers make him look alot better than he is. He could have easily had 6 int's vs a weak Fla team.
3. He is a subpar leader who doesnt inspire his teammates to work harder. It was obvious he couldnt care less about losing to a God awful Ky team and ending the streak. He lacks the maturity and/or drive to lead by example.
4. They rank him as the 4th best qb in the SEC. They would all prefer Murray, Tyler Wilson and Connor Shaw over Bray.
5. UT finished 11th in the SEC and is getting embarassingly worse...end of story.

As much as it pains me to say, they have some valid points...I think the jury is still out on Bray.

Dude if you are actually listening to uga and aub fans, your blood is losing its orange color. Those are the worst two fan bases I have ever been around at the games. Yes, much worse than gators. Tell them to mind their own business, and you really don't need their opinion.

I don't get how everybody (maybe not everybody, but a lot of people) are so sure that him (Bray), Rogers, and Hunter are leaving after next year. They're all talented, but leave early because you're a high draft pick talented? They're all capable for sure, but let's wait and see if they can put a season together that proves to the NFL, and other fanbases it looks like, what they're made of. What really is interesting is some of the same genius's that say they're leaving early are the same one's saying we'll have a mediocre season next year. If those 3 have a season that warrants leaving early for the draft, watch out for the Vols damn it.

I agree...I am predicting 7-5 or 8-4 next year. If we lose to nc st and uf, then 6-6 or 5-7 is likely. Nc st will be a key game for Bray and the Vols.

I love the threads that start with "I am an alumni. I bleed orange." Just a tidbit for those interested, that beginning statement doesn't exclude all the other dumb things that follow.

Wow breathtaking stuff. You think we will go 7-5 or 8-4 but if we lose to two teams you have us beating, we will have two less wins. Nostradamus.

Yep...never listen to Auburn fans.

Connor Shaw? Tyler Wilson? Seriously?[/QUOTE]

I would take Tyler Wilson in a HEARTBEAT over Bray, and it's not even close. OP was right on almost every point, and most of VN can't come to grips with it

Will 8-4 or 7-5 keep Dooley around? I am thinking 8-4 or better is needed considering we dont play Ark and Lsu..

You will see the inaccuracies and mental breakdown of Tyler Wilson this year when he loses his 3 best WRs. Those flaws were covered up when you have 3 guys with NFL potential catching balls.

Teams beat teams. To expect a qb with zero running game and zero team depth to beat the loaded monsters of the SEC is ridiculous. If you can't see the ability and his drive and passion for the Vols, then you've been reading too many of the frat boy posts. This kid can't catch a break. Everyone wants to compare him to Manning and blast him for playing great against crappy teams and just OK against great teams.
Tell the O-line to learn how to run block and snap a ball properly and the D to not get a flagrant personal foul when the opponent is driving for the win.
He lifts the team up with his play and many players(not frat boys) have said so. Get over the UK loss already. He had strep throat and a fever of 102 and a sore thumb and you say he's over rated because he didn't play well that day?
Give him a break.

I watched Conner Shaw vs Clemson and that guy has some wheels and a decent arm. He is pretty fast. In college, having a qb that can pass and run is becoming more and more important. Next year, I dont like our chances vs Sc, Uga, Bama and Uf. Uf sucks, but they own us right now. Mizz, Miss St and Vandy are the games we have to win to keep Dooley around.

I'll bet the farm Wilson out-performs Bray next year....of course there will always be posters like yourself posting crap like "any QB can succeed in Petrino's offense, blah, excuse, blah, excuse". Besides, I thought Arkansas' NFL receivers were overrated according to so many posters in the week leading up to our 49-7 beatdown
