Most importantly, I am a UT alumni and bleed orange. Several of my close friends are Uga and Aub grads and they all find it very comical that Vol fans and media were/are hyping Bray as a premiere qb in the SEC. They all tell me I need to wake up and take my orange tinted glasses off. I have to finally admit that his resume thus far isn't very compelling. Here is what they said:

Here's there argument as to why Bray is overhyped and a joke:
1. He hasnt beaten a ranked team or even been close(within a TD) and he does the throat slash and other cocky gestures when he has had 2 losing seasons.
2. He slings the ball up for grabs alot and UT's receivers make him look alot better than he is. He could have easily had 6 int's vs a weak Fla team.
3. He is a subpar leader who doesnt inspire his teammates to work harder. It was obvious he couldnt care less about losing to a God awful Ky team and ending the streak. He lacks the maturity and/or drive to lead by example.
4. They rank him as the 4th best qb in the SEC. They would all prefer Murray, Tyler Wilson and Connor Shaw over Bray.
5. UT finished 11th in the SEC and is getting embarassingly worse...end of story.

As much as it pains me to say, they have some valid points...I think the jury is still out on Bray.

So... basically you're still upset about the UK game? Let it go. Kid was sick, had a broken thumb, and played the worst game of his career. **** happens.

At this point, I would agree with #4.

just stop... we already have at least 100 other threads where this subject is brought up ad nauseum and just like there it is a bunch of unfounded opinions and sour grapes reactions. We had a bad season and people can't take it they have to have someone to blame. The coaches, the players, the former AD.

The real culprit is quite obvious and simple. Mr. Murphy and his nasty law.

Well if he is the 4th best I would take it. All though I really can't take Connor Shaw over Bray. I think Alshon Jeffrey made Connor Shaw look a lot better than he really is. As far as Bray's antics, none of those were on display this previous season. As far as the 6 INT's he could have had against UF, ya we all saw that, but he didn't so no reason to really dwell on that. Also the whole large margin losses to a top team, do you really think it was just Bray who contributed to our losses to the ranked opponents? Also, we lost to UF by 10, USCjr by 10 and UGA 8, I wouldn't exactly call any of those a landslide from this year. If your going to pin the losses on Bray losing to our bigger opponents over 2 years you obviously have tunnel vision to the QB and can't see the other garbage we have displayed on the field in recent games.

Pretty sure that when he got hurt he was one of the 10 highest rated passers in the 120-team NCAA and easily highest in the SEC...7-to-1 TD-to-INT ratio is fine by me

Bray has all the physical tools to be a great QB for UT, but my question and most everyone else's concern is his mental aspect. This won't be known until after next season.

1. No he has not beaten anyone ranked, but to put that solely on him is ridiculous, our O-line wasn't even sub-par this year and our defense was inconsistent. I would also rather have a QB with confidence that celebrates than one that doesn't get pumped during a game

2. The UF game he had to sling it up. We lost Hunter which changed our entire gameplan in an instant and took away our deep threat. If Daunte Culpepper had not had Randy Moss his stats never would have been nearly as good even though he had Cris Carter.

3. He is actually a fairly decent leader and was very involved even when he wasn't on the field, but you can't win with just emotion and we lacked talent and experience in several areas this year.

4. I would put him 3rd or 2nd my vote is still out on Murray, but as a passer Bray is clearly better than Shaw. Our play-calling on offense has been very limited due to lack of experience which makes it easier for defenses to understand our scheme.

5. We're coming out of a huge whole left by the end of the Fulmer era and also the Kiffin year. Dooley is bringing in talented players who should only get better with time(i.e. AJ Johnson, Maggit, Randolph). So putting the blame on Bray for being 11th in the SEC is unacceptable. It's inaccurate to blame someone who missed some key games with an injury and was missing his most electrifying target in the passing game.

That being said he is over-hyped and has yet to prove he's an elite QB, but to condemn him at this point is just foolish.

I don't like the way he holds the ball out around his hip when he is moving around in the pocket.

One might say he needs more pocket presents.....

He could of threw for 500 yards against Florida if they didn't hold the WRs all day

I didn't like his body language in the UK game, he didn't get motivated to win until it was 10-0 Cats, but he is the leader and you could tell the players could feed off that in the Vandy game.

He has started exactly 11 games, give the kid some time. Does it really matter if his wideouts make him look better than he actually is?

I am not saying that Bray is the reason we are losing...I would much more so blame our lack of a running game and poor special teams. I am saying that all of the NFL and heisman talk surrounding Bray is a joke at this point. Heck, there were quite a few folks crowning him as the next Peyton.

All of the QBs you mentioned have better, more experienced talent around them. With another year of maturity for Bray, his offensive line, better luck with injuries, and a consistently average running game, everyone will see him reach his potential. Give it time.

The kid is a good QB. The blame for him being "overrated" can be placed at the feet of ridiculous fans who had unreal expectations of him and the entire team. It's comical that it is probably those same "fans" who are now calling for coach's heads, trashing the players, etc. after a bad season. He wasnt, and never will be, the entire team like folks want him to be.

To me, the jury isnt out. Nothing has changed. He is still one of the top QBs in a tough conference, and will do just fine. Once fans start being realistic about some things, they just might see that.

It's hard to have "pocket presents" with football pants
