Bray and thumb

Pfort said it was mainly gun and some Pistol formation work.

Again, one of my favorite things about this staff - they can adapt.

The pistol came back this year and as it has seen success our coaches have noticed and are willing to work it into the offense.

Love it.

The media darlings are the ones reporting that Bray wasn't getting it done. Say he struggled to take a snap. Worked mostly out the gun. This I guess was the time they were allowed to watch. Maybe he improved as the practice went along.

PRactice notes from pfort

Obviously, the big news is Tyler Bray throwing the ball. They worked on some pistol formations because Dooley said they can do everything from that as they can in the 'I'. Dooley continues to list him as questionable.

There was some obvious discomfort when Bray took snaps from under center. They did a lot of pistol and shotgun stuff in what we saw.

Marlin Lane was in a non-contact green jersey as he's battling a foot and shoulder injury.

Dar'Rick Rogers was wearing a knee brace on his right knee.

Most everyone we talked to seemed very happy to have Bray back out there for practice.

There was also a heavy orange dog being rolled around practice (we have video of it in the Bray video) and Dooley said it came all the way from Sweden.

This conflicts with what others are saying. I heard he was having trouble taking the snap

He had some pain taking the snap under center, but did fine in shotgun and pistol. This is only Tuesday, and his first day back to the norm. He will be fine. Just knocking the rust off.

hopefully we can get up big and be able to run the ball. i hope we dont have to rely on him throwing it 40+ times - not with recovering broken thumb, i dont care who you are, your gonna loose some zip and accuracy this soon after the injury.

Looked at the practice photos of Bray. He had a wincing in pain look in a few. I know he's sore now. But, his grip looked good. It didn't look like he was favoring the thumb on his grip. I think he'll be fine by game time Saturday.

not to mention, vandy has a pretty decent defensive backfield.

They've only played 2 legit passing teams, UGA and Arky. In those two games the opposing QB combined for:

49/81 (60.4%) 642 yards 4 TDs, 1 INT.

Rogers against our D scares me more than Bray against their D

the bone in brays thumb is completley healed. hes been throwing alot the past couple of days. getting the range of motion back and working out the muscle soreness are the issues. he will not come close to throwing as many balls during a game as he has the last few days. he will be fine.

Wincing when throwing the ball isn't necessarily an indication of pain. Every QB winces when throwing with velocity.

Man, I just got in a much better mood. Does that make me a bad person? Seriously though, do you think he stays in the gun most of the game? If already asked, sorry. Thanks much for the news. :hi:
