Braxton Miller

A lot of wishful thinking there. No way you go through a season with 1 QB who has the health issues Miller has had. You can't just redshirt everyone lol.

And Miller isn't coming to UT anyway. Dobbs is the starting QB. Having 1st team reps through spring, summer and fall will make a huge difference. You don't redshirt him now lol. That train left when Worley got hurt.

You can go into the season planning to RS anyone ya want. If there is no injury, then you're fine. IF there is an injury, then you just pull off 1 of the RS's. IMO worst things coaches do now a days is burn a kids RS giving him meaningless snaps in mop up duty. If you plan to have your #1 take 95% of the 1st team reps, don't waste a season for your #2 guy if you don't have to. Let #3 or #4 get the garbage reps.

He could do well at LSU. They have all the talent including a Oline and they are 1 good QB away from being really good.

Where did this Braxton Miller and Tennessee talk come about? Does anyone in their right mind think that Miller would want ANY PART of playing his SR season behind UT's offensive line? I'm not sure that would really display his talents and preparation for what he would like to be his audition for an NFL job. I'm not sure taking the snap, looking right then left to see who is coming at him un blocked and then being forced to chuck it into the 3rd row would accomplish what he is looking for. JMO

Come on now. :birgits_giggle:

Anyone who makes such a poor decision as to attend Ohio State is not the kind of person I want making decisions for Tennessee when the ball is snapped.

Can't believe 7 people cosigned this nonsense. As if our stable of qbs are great decision makers. As if any of our recent qbs have been great decision makers.

Swain is talking about this topic this morning. Wonder if it actually has any legs.

When a player like that can play immediately, he's basically the number one recruit in the nation. I'm sure it's at least on the staff's radar. LV has a good point though (it pains me to say that :) ). Not sure playing with a question mark OL is good for his NFL stock.

LSU would take this guy in a heartbeat and he would be huge there.

Living in Ohio Braxton Miller is all you heard about up here prior to the season starting on how he is going to win this, this and do this, this, and this. After he got hurt before the season started and after the VT game all you hear was we can't wait till we get Miller Back are season is doomed. After J.T. Barrett started going off in games you did not hear a word about Miller until after the Michigan game when J.T. broke his ankle. Honestly I don't think Braxton will return to O.S.U. next season.

In a perfect world Miller would transfer to UT and walking in would be the best QB on the team by far, give Dobbs his redshirt year, and we can redshirt the two incoming freshman.

Problem is Miller is injury prone.

When Dobbs is on and throwing with accuracy he is definitely in the same Galaxy as Miller. When he is on he is really good.

I agree with this completely. Dobbs just needs to up his accuracy somehow since the off-season has started...wait, "we going bowling". :dance2:

I would take him I suppose. But I'm not going all out for him. I feel good about building around Dobbs.

I could see him ending up at Ole Miss though.

I'm sorry but I haven't seen Dobbs have a great game throwing the ball. He makes some nice throws but I haven't seen a consistent game from him. Now in his defense part of that is the players surrounding him BUT the coaches do not trust him to throw into the middle of the field.

Right or wrong to do it that way - it sure was the case in the last two games in particular. Against Vandy they gave him one throw over the middle to the TE and he overthrew it. Never called again despite it being wide open. Never gave him much until late in the 4th quarter against Mizzou. He needs some work - still really inconsistent.

Only on Volnation do we have people who would say we are better off with a jr qb backed up by an incompetent sr qb and two freshman than having a preseason heisman favorite come in to compete with the jr qb for the starting job. Either way you have a good back up and ability to redshirt both young players.

Who's the "senior" backup?

I would take Miller in a heartbeat if he wanted to come to TN. You cant just look at Dobbs and automatically think they have a good situation at QB, because they don't. They basically have nobody on the returning roster behind him, and two incoming true freshman. That is a pretty scary QB situation IMO.

Agreed. No way you don't take him if he wants in IMO.

There is no way he comes here. Why would he? There's a huge possibility he'd come off as a fraud if he struggled vs SEC defenses. Playing Bama, Ole Miss, Georgia and Florida is a whole lot different than playing Iowa, Indiana, Pursue etc

Everyone fussing about the prospect of Miller transferring here, keep this in mind....it's hard for a QB to go through the whole season without injury. Especially in a zone read offense.

If Dobbs gets hurt, we're pretty much screwed...with the only options being either Peterman or a true freshman. I'd rather have Braxton play his senior year and let Dobbs redshirt if Miller stays healthy, and take over if he doesn't. This way there is no dropoff.
