Will someone please post any new information on whether he is elgible or not?

I know it appears that UT is planning on him being elgible...practicing and picture taking.

I think that the SEC is going to make him sit out or something would have happened by now. I do not believe that a TV contract due next year has anything to do with an eligibility decision due a month ago. If the SEC were to approve then there would have to be a decision by the NCAA and we all know what kind of luck we have with their decisions. The football committee is completely different from the more liberal basketball committee.

My guess is warren will be sitting if it has to go through two entirely different entity's. What's the odds of them both being in favor of reinstatement?

It's been said that the NCAA's part is just a rubber stamp. It is basically just the SEC's decision now.

My question is, if he's NOT eligible, can he take a redshirt this year -- making him a redshirt Junior next year? That would still give him 2 years of eligibility.

Whether he gets a redshirt or not he should still be a Junior next year giving him 2 years of eligibility left. He is only listed as a sophomore.

i think its stupid and pointless if he sits another year. I know he wasn't enrolled last year but still he filed a hardship into the NCAA. What else can he do???

How's that possible since he sat out this past season? I thought the clock started ticking in one's first season?

I think your are correct about the clock starts ticking as soon as you walk on campus. You have 5 years to complete your eligibility unless you get a medical 6th year variance.

On Warren in this morning's TFP...

No word on Warren
Tuesday featured another impressive Brandon Warren performance on the practice field, and another day of UT coaches impatiently waiting for the SEC’s ruling on the Florida State tight end transfer’s eligibility status.

“I just hope we can have him,” Clawson said. “He’s a good athlete. There’s no question that he can help our football team. It would be a great bonus if we have him, and hopefully that will work out.

“I don’t want to go to the other place.”

Fulmer raved about Warren’s versatility, which would be a tremendous asset to a team searching for H-back Chris Brown’s replacement.

“Brandon can play on the ball and be tough enough to get after a defensive end well enough,” Fulmer said. “He can certainly play off the ball, or in the backfield, or even split out as a wide receiver or slot receiver. He’s a football player. He catches on really well, and he’s got the mentality that you like to coach. He doesn’t like to be tackled. He likes to win the drills.

“He is one heck of a football player.”

Thanks for posting OWH. After reading this article I think I will be sick if he don't get cleared to play this year. He must actually be the real deal!
I saw him play a few times at florida state and he looked like the real deal to me...

On the radio today I heard Hubbs (I think it was Hubbs) discussing the fact that if a decision is not rendered on Warren by Friday the Vols will have to take away many of his practice reps and focus more on four WR sets.

I would like to hear something one way or the other. Well, who cares what I want to hear....I am sure the entire coaching staff is wanting to know.

Seems kinda crazy to wait this long and not know anything

You can get a grey shirt. I am not sure about qualifying but that is what Boeky got at Ohio state. He took a red and grey.

I saw Warren’s name on the UT roster at utsports.som. Hopefully this is a good sign. For some reason I was thinking they were not allowed to list him on the roster until he was cleared. I could be wrong since most of the time I am but I thought I would throw it out there. Man I hope he is in.

Silve and the SEC are being idiots on this: The guy wanted to be closer to his mother, who has had health issues, he is with the Vols now, let him play. Make the right call on this one--it's easy-- and stop being pricks. You do need a rule to deter kids from transferring generally--but when family health issues are involved exceptions must be made. They are sometimes, so I don't know why the SEC is dithering.

That sucks. At that point this holdup is making a direct negative impact, we'll be less comfortable using him early on even if the SEC decides to let him play.

I could also see them taking a long time if it were a transfer between two SEC schools, but thats not the case either. They need to stop sitting on thier hands and just make a decision one way or the other!

Still awaiting word on his eligibility issue, missed practice to attend summer school classes.

It would seem...that Slive goes above and beyond, not be seen as partial to the Vols.:whistling: One might also ponder where the office is located for a clue as to which squeaky wheel might be the loudest.

I am a Noles fan and I would have bet everything I own that he would never see the field on offense for Tennessee. I guess the new offensive scheme allows for a severely undersized tight end. From hearing Fulmer talk I guess they could line him up all over the place. With the old style of UT offense there was no chance he could play tight end.

Then I guess you never heard of our TE the last few years Chris Brown. And I don't think I'd call Warren severely undersized. For the NFL yeah, but not college.
