Brandon Warren

He's not a Vol yet. He's still enrolled at Pellissippi St. taking care of academic stuff. If he gets that done, he'll try to be admitted for the summer. Granted he is admitted, he'll then have to go appeal to try to be eligible to play in the fall. Several steps he has to do before he gets on the field but Fulmer said today on the radio that he "saved a scholarship for possibly one more player that isn't enrolled yet."

I heard him say that and thought he was talking about Williams.

I don't think anyone really knows. I think they'll probably let him work at both for a little bit till they figure out where he can contribute the most. He was adament about playing TE coming out of HS though.

Terrelle Pryor ’s choice for now is no choice.
Pryor, the Jeannette High School quarterback who is considered the nation’s top unsigned high school football recruit, decided at the last minute Wednesday not to commit on national signing day and will delay his decision.

Well, if Tennessee gets him, I don't want to hear anything else said about this recruiting class :p

he was a freshman all american TE at FSU....there's your answer

Yeah... I knew that, but that's not really my answer. He also played some snaps at DE for FSU because he's such a stud on both sides of the ball. UT's need may be more at DE than TE when Warren finally reaches campus.

Let's see, two scholarship true TEs in Cottam and Stocker. Holbert and Cooper are FBs.

Now let's look at DE. Robert Ayers is a senior this year. Wes Brown is a junior. Then Walker and Martin. Fowlkes may be a DE. Gerald Williams more than likely a DE. Then Rae Sykes comes in from JUCO in 09.

I'd say the depth at DE is a little better than TE.

We offered him at WR, and we will try him out at WR unless we go against our word. You're also forgetting Douglas at TE, but he may end up at OL from what I've seen because of his speed.

This is interesting, because we have a lot of guys who have athleticism that will allow them to play 2 or 3 positions at UT. I think, sadly, that Gerald Williams may not go where he is best suited, but where we need him most. He just has too many tools at his disposal... Size, speed, and apparently a nasty disposition.

Well, Holbert and Cooper are actually H-backs, who will fill the role left by Chris Brown. That is, unless Dave Clawson has something else in mind.

The thing is, Brandon Warren could really help us out at TE and DE. If he's like Dwight Freeney coming off the edge, I don't see how they could let that potential go to waste. I mean, you mention Wes Brown in that DE rotation... c'mon.

I still think you may be right about him playing strictly TE. He fits the H-back mold very well, and is a few steps up from Chris Brown... and that's saying something.

That's why I said "maybe" a DE. A 6-5 WR is not too bad imo. But if he doesn't work out at WR, he'll be a DE. Remember Jamal Anderson from Arkansas?

Douglas will gain weight and become a tackle.

Where do you think Williams will best be used at?

Clawson likes the I-formation.

And as for Warren being a DE, the last big blue chip guy that I can remember playing both ways was Joe Thomas at Wisconsin. He's a Pro Bowl LT with the Browns now. He played DE in Wisconsin's bowl game his junior year and tore an ACL. I doubt coaches want to take a chance like that with Warren.

If they line Warren up at DE, I'll blow a gasket. The guy was a freshman All-American TE at FSU, we best not line him up at DE. Warren is better than any TE we have on the roster right now.

I really hope we keep Gerald Williams at MLB. There is a glaring vacancy at that position with the struggles of Chris Donald. I like Elix Wilson, but I think Williams has the perfect size for a MLB.

From what I read it was either all WR with Fowlkes or it's nothing with Fowlkes. Maybe they'll be able to convince him otherwise, but from what I've seen he only wants WR.

Agreed on Douglas. He's too slow for how we (and the NFL) are starting to use TEs, but he'd be a very fast and versatile OT.

I think he would be an absolute beast at MLB, but I haven't seen him in full practice... goods and bads. Only the highlight tapes. They might want to consider an absolute beast at MLB especially with Tebow. His size and speed kind of reminds me of Kevin Burnett.

Brown will be in the rotation, why shouldn't he?

Do you not pay any attention to our games? He has played a good bit so far is his career. He is one of our quickest and strongest DE's. What exactly is your problem with him?

With Fowlkes I used Jamal Anderson. The guy went to Arkansas hellbent on being a WR. He's now a DE with the Atlanta Falcons. I'm not saying Fowlkes will not be a WR here, just don't assume anything until they come up here and practice. What coaches say in January does not always hold true in August.

Gerald Williams is a badass. Regardless of where he's going to play, which DE seems like a good fit for a 250 lb guy with 4.6 speed, he will make plays. Gerald was practicing as a DE when he was here the last time in the summer of 2005.
