Brandon Warren Is Back?

I bet both of you guys are the types of guys that try and make up for small areas of your life by arguing w/ each other on a college football message board.

Nope. Just a distraction for taking a break.

I like debating and especially about Vol football. I don't care for it when people refuse to see the good in anything.

I'm still skeptical but have found some solace in a few positives.

You must not spend much time on the politics section of this message board. :p

Please keep in mind, FSU willingly released BW. No school releases a kid who is valuable, imo. Also, after the exhibition he put on in front of the ESPN cameras screaming and swearing at the coaches, I am not sure he is the kind of player TN wants or needs.

Way back in this thread someone asked about Sawtelle. He went to Grand Valley State University, a D-II school in western Michigan. After shoulder surgeries, he could no longer shoot his hands. It is a shame but he wouldn't be able to help us on the line due to those injuries.

Actually that is incorrect. FSU absolutely refused to release him of their own free will.

When I played ball in college, we had a lineman who we felt suffered from a "thermostatic shoulder"...whenever the temperature outside on a practice day was under 40 or over 70, he had to sit out.

That is very funny! I have to remember "thermostatic shoulder" -- it is a good one.

I think we should give the kid another chance. I mean we could really use the depth at TE. If DD is allowing him to have another oppurtunity than I am sure Warren has given him a reason to believe that he has his act together. I am sure he is on a shorter leash than the rest of the players and he definetly knows it. I mean the kid lost a full year of playing football at The University of Tennessee. If that wasn't a wake up call I don't know what else (short of him not being allowed to come back) would be. The guy has talent whether he showed it last year or not, I mean I am sure he would have played better once Crompton started picking it up. I certaintly don't condone his behavior in anyway, but I do believe he deserves a second chance and I am sure that he knows he made a huge mistake. He worked hard last year to mold his body into that of a reciever. So it will be interesting to see if they keep him at WR or if he will have to bulk back up to play TE. He would definetly be our best option to backup Stocker and provide depth at TE if he is able to bulk up and gain weight, but ultimately that is up to the coaching staff and where they feel he is best suited.

What do you define as yankees? The dialect in Michigan is totally different than New Yawk. The dialect in Boston/New England is different than New Yawk. In reality the dialect in the Bronx is different than Brooklyn, etc. The same goes for South Boston and other parts.

What you are referring to is dialect, not grammar and common sense. I don't have a problem with southern dialect just ignorance.

"I ain't never heard of that feller"

I think you have misunderstood the word 'dialect' . Grammer , and diction ( word choice ) are very much a part of any dialect. The grammer , diction , and accentuation of the Midland and Highland Southern Dialects of the English language ( the Southern accents you hear most) are more closely related to Elizabethan English than any other dialect in the US.

A perfect example is the word that you termed ignorant : ain't . This was a term made popular in works of English Restoration playwrights in the 1600's. It followed English settlers to this area of the country.

Many so called 'English' majors would have you believe it to be vulgate speech , but they are just following the prescriptivist moment which is long dead ...and most of these 'rule makers' don't even know what that movement was about . They are just repeating what they have been told.

The whole point is ...don't confuse academic 'movements' with ignorance. Be thankful that the Southern Accents preserve and reflect the 'mother' language.

He wasn't a disappointment under Bowden unless you consider being a freshman all-American a disappointment.

Third team, less than 300 receiving yards. Not a disappointment in that sense, but he still left the school (though his reason for leaving was a good one). Still, I'm sure Bowden was less than pleased, maybe even disappointed.

Please stop with the 'all-american' honor junk. How many freshman play any significant minutes at TE? His stats were very pedestrian. 300 yards? He was highly ranked coming out of high school, got playing time, and played at a big time school. He got that award by default.

All I'm saying is that he was a decent contributor as a freshman. I don't get how that would be considered a disappointment.

Good post... but it reeks of common sense.

It will interesting if Dooley and staff can tap into the potential he showed coming out of high school. By the way as far as second chances go he isn't even close to Steve Howe .

this guy is trouble! Let's look at Dooley's decisions so far Joesph over Thompson as RC, bringing back a selfish laggard who hurt last years team, and decides we should keep everything secret, lets not promote UT all the while keeping Rubio..wtf we are in trouble this is La Tech mark my words and watch the kids we go after all 2 to 3 stars judged by the likes of Hinshaw (who), Joesph, and company. Not a good scenerio and BW was TROUBLE and still is.
