Agree to disagree. I watched a number of FSU games his freshman year. He did absolutely nothing spectacular. And he never blocked at FSU. He was basically a WR.

USC tightends arent that big are they? Warren isnt that much smaller than Davis is he? Why are people saying he is too little? I dont remember USC TEs being Cottam size they are usually smaller I think.

Warren may be in a tight spot. He isn't nearly physical enough to be a TE in Kiffin's offense. Kiffin also has never been the type to use a HBack. I've heard Kiffin wants him to lose weight so he can be a WR. That seems to be his best chance, but I'm not sure if he can do it in one offseason. I suppose that Mark Smith may be able to pull it off, though.

The problem isn't so much of the weight loss as the need for him to get quicker while losing the weight. If he can get quicker, he could be a weapon.

use him as a slot/TE like dallas clark

Exactly...he's almost identical in size and athletic ability as Clark. Need some packages that can utilitize his ability. Clark isn't big, but manages to be productive in the run game chipping linebackers and getting into safeties. The Colts tend to run zone blocking stretch plays where the running back looks for cut back lanes. This strategy would seem to work better for a smaller, quicker TE. Or run him as an H back with a bigger TE in the game. He can then be a blocking or receiving threat.

agreed. warren is a stud and hopefully they'll use him to the fullest next season. i can only imagine where he'd be or how well he'd be doing if he'd stayed at fsu.

You must have missed this game. This is bad video, but this catch was spectacular. It is this kind of athletic ability that has people hyped on his ability.YouTube - Brandon Warren one handed catch
