What's the deal guys? I nknow he wanted to get a hrdship for this year and Bowden was blocking him. But I just read today that he has stated that he will transfer regardless and that he is expected to be on the field for UT by 2008

The issue I'm having is with the transfer rules. Doesn't he have to be here and sitting out for a year before he can play? If so then is he here yet? Does he have to sit out a year and be at UT or can he just sit out?

All I know is that he's currently attending Pelissippi State Technical Comm. College in Knoxville. I don't know when he'll be at UT and on the football team, but he is in Knoxville taking classes and getting in good academic standing.

If he does have to sit a year, he could redshirt, i think.
No he has to sit two years, and it doesn't matter if he has a redshirt you cant redshirt a transfer, he losses the elligability no matter what. Only on NCAA football 07 are you allowed to redshirt a transfer player. He has to sit two years because he left FSU midsemester. If he'd finished out the semester he'd only have to sit one. His mom is doing very good so its very doubtful he will get the hardship. Most likely he'll go play JUCO ball somewhere and comeback here his senior year. He cant even apply for a hardship until he is attending the university because a university has to apply for it so it'll be a while before we know anything on him.

What a complete waste...this kid was so awesome. I remember watching the lockerroom show where he announced he was going to FSU...it about made me sick. And now he can't play until he is senior. Hind sight is always 20/20...but man it would have been great if he had just come here

Dont' blame Bobby Bowden. Warren made some decisions himself, and he should be the one to bear the consequences. For some reasons, I am not feeling sorry about this kid.

He didn't decide for his mom to get cancer. If he wanted to leave to be able to go back and see her, that shouldn't have been a problem. How would you react if your mother had a serious illness and someone was trying to prevent you from seeing her?

I don't blame him, he made his decision to come back to his mother no matter what, but the cost is (I think) he is pretty much done on his football career. He gets some, and loses some, it's his decision. But If I were him, I might think twice: who I am without football?

As for Bowden did not grant him the release, as an outsider, I think if Warren had legitimate reasons which were recognized by FSU and NCAA, he would have no problem to get release, and probably hardship. Again, as an outsider, I remember I read something saying his mother has been battling with cancer, but is doing much better right now. I understand that his mother may need more caring, but if I were FSU and NCAA, I probably would not consider this as legitimate reason.

warren's a teenager. i believe we all made a few bad decisions as teenagers. tough to say what i'd do if i were bowden. while releasing him seems to be the right thing to do, it may open up a can of worms for other players to do same if you let one player go easily.

You mean Warren can't play until his senior season now? He is going to lose his Sophomore and Junior seasons? I think he will just have to sit out one year. They didn't release him so he has to set out.

To exotic_vols:

I feel really warm about your signature:
"Oct. 21, 2007, "Buck you, fama" chant was echoing twice in the Neyland Stadium. It was the most emotional moment in my life."

It was my pleasure to be a member of the student section and chant on that day......

i thought he would attend juco, then go to tennessee and be eligible in 08? its similar to what brent shaffer and kenny oneal did, go to a d1 school as a frosh, go to juco as a soph, then head back to d1. does that change since he was never granted his release?

No he left mid-semester so he will be forced to sit out two years.

You need to learn your rules.

Since he has enrolled in Junior College and he can be in good academic standing by the fall of 2008 he can enroll at UT and at that time can be redshirted.

According to the rules of the LOI in transferring from D-1 to D-1 he would have had to establish a 1 yr residence (sit out) then a 1 year transfer rule (sit out)(can redshirt like all transfers that haven't used up their year.). He bypasses that by enrolling in Junior Colllege whether it plays football or not

and you need to lighten up. Bud everytime you make a post you come in and verbally bodyslam someone. Its like u get your rocks off correcting the misinformed. Just a guess but maybe u should direct that sharply focused correction laser on yourself, I for one am tired of seeing your bullying tactics. VOLSGURU Dan4

I knew I heard someone say he could redshirt.

BW has been telling people that we will see him in 08. I don't see how since he is supposed to sit out 2 years, but o well. If he does, he will have 3 years to play 2 I believe. If not, he will redshirt the 2nd and have 2 years to play 2.

I believe vol67 is correct. The only time the 2 year rule is applied is when it's intraconference, i.e. transferring from one SEC school to another.

I hope he eventually lands here and is great, but I think we have like 6000 TEs right now and some are darn good at that. So, its not like we are in urgent need of him. Yes, I do know how good Brandon W. was as a Fresh @ FSU.
