I love this hire, nice to see Butch going and getting new people and not staying with his friends as coaches.

You gotta give it to Butch... He's shown a willingness to upgrade his position coaches when needed. Let's hope this translates to better line play as well as a boost in recruiting.

I'm curious if our signing day misses were informed about the pending hire. I like this hire, but would have preferred it announced before NSD

Good hire. Butch's initial "BSIA" staff wasn't great, but he's done a good job with replacements.

Great job, Butch. At least if Stripling is moving to an off the field role, he brought in a big name guy who has been a D-coordinator and head coach at major programs. Good name recognition and supposedly a good coach.

Hate to say it....nothing Butch does excites me. Even this, which I truly believe is an upgrade, makes me question Hokes thinking. I cannot imagine anyone worthwhile coming to work for CBJ. Admittedly that's about as Nega as it gets, and Butch Jones caused it.

So another coach with HCing experience. Maybe TN can become a destination program.

CBJ gonna burn football to the ground!

I'm not an expert in the X's & O's but during his time at BSU he ran a tight ship, demanded high character off the field, and players loved him. Have the sense that UM was too big for him and UO was a no-win situation. At the very least it's neutral on coaching quality but a fresh perspective will be a good thing. Plus he's got a decade or so of HC experience which can only help.

Oh yeah just saw they have been friends...well I'll take this new friend lol Can really recruit, plus Stripling isn't leaving so he can still help out as well.

Butch took over a team in the dumps and has it in bowls every year in the sec - the toughest conference. If you don't micro-analyze every little thing most people would say he's doing a good job.

Hoke is likely still getting paid from UO and UM, he's coached in the Big10 and Pac12, why not try the SEC? He's probably not hurting for money and maybe he's learned from the past few years he wants to get back to pure coaching.

CBJ got the folks he wanted. He had to turn players away.

Strip will be around and this guy new guy will find his wheelhouse with our Dline.
