UT a #2 seed in the Midwest with KU as #1

If Texas can knock em off tomorrow, our overall resume should get us that #1 back.

Not liking Stanford and their twin 7 footers in our half of the bracket

If Texas wins I think they will get a 1 seed. I think our best chance is for a Kansas win. Their schedule strength is pretty week. Texas beat us by 20 so I don't think we will be ahead of Texas if they beat Kansas. ESPN doesn't know. I think the committee will look at our 11 wins vs. top 50 teams and our road wins. Xavier, Memphis, Miss. St, Gonzaga.

But it is a toss up. I still can't believe that goon hit that shot. Sucks. We really need this 1 seed. I think it will make a big difference in how far we go.

Who else did Texas beat out of conference and on the road that is projected to be in the NCAA tourney?

Also, fighthing for a #1 seed is important but we need to keep it in perspective and remember it was not that long ago that we were thrilled with a double digit seed just to be in the tournament. Getting a #2 might just be the motivation Pearl needs to light another fire under this team for the tourney run.

For what it is worth, cbssportsline still has us as a #1 seed in the Midwest and it was updated this morning.

I usually like what Gary Parrish has to say even if its not what you want to hear. In this case I like what he has to say.

ESPN's bracket is brutal for us. Come on Clemson, beat UNC by 70 points and maybe we can jump up a bit. I want out of the Midwest and West

Ummm... lets see they beat UCLA on the road, Tennessee by about 20, Texas will get the #1 seed should they win today.

Even with a loss, I don't see Carolina falling from the #1 spot and moving out of an Eastern bracket.

So a #2 and staying in an East bracket is worse than having a #1 and being out West? I think once the official brackets are posted, every region will be a tough draw.

I would still say road wins against Gonzaga, Memphis, and Xavier would stand up pretty well for UT. I doubt Texas wins anyway.

If Texas wins today they probably deserve the #1 seed. The have wins over UCLA, TN, and 2 wins vs. Kansas (if they win today). They're conference is probably a little tougher than ours overall and they beat us by 20. I hate to say it, but they probably would deserve a #1 over us.

I'm hoping Kansas wins and it becomes a toss up between us and Kansas. I think we have a much better chance getting a #1 over Kansas than Texas.

I like the bottom half of the proposed Bracketology better than the top. I would rather stay where we are if these are the teams we would play. I don't want to have to play MSU or Gonz in the second round.

I think we have to hope for Texas win, but either way, we probably aren't getting a one seed.

If Texas beats Kansas today, they deserve a number one seed. Their resume is the best in the country. If we had beaten Memphis,North Carolina, and Duke twice, would we be at all concerned about getting a number one seed? Texas, in my opinion, will beat Kansas today and get that # 1 seed. They already have beaten them and I don't see any reason Kansas will beat Texas. However, Tennessee, in my opinion, has the second best resume in the country. I don't understand why people give Memphis such a hard time with their resume when teams like Kansas and UCLA haven't beaten anyone either. Actually, I know that Memphis plays in a junk conference where their is nobody capable of beating them but the teams that I mentioned haven't really had a signature win this year. My prediction is that UNC, Memphis, UCLA, and Texas get the # 1 seeds and Kansas,Tennessee,Duke, and Wisconsin get the # 2 seeds.

I think regardless we will be in a bracket with Kansas as the #4 and #5 teams whether we are #1 seed or Kansas is. I like the matchups in the bracket that Cincy put up.

I mentioned last night that I think this comes down to the Vols against the Big 12 tournament champion.

Those two teams represent the #4 1 seed and the #1 2 seed. Either way, UT is likely to be in the same bracket as the Big 12 tournament champ so it ultimately could be decided on the court (e.g. if they win their ways into the elite 8 with the winner going to Final 4).

My guess is Kansas gets the 1 seed if they win. UT gets the 1 if Texas wins (body of work and recency over head to head in November). The Nov win by Texas over UT was just too long ago to be such a factor in a basketball season. UT's win over Memphis was much more recent. That means a lot more, IMO.

I truly believe this team deserves a #1 seed based on what they have done this season. But the incredibly disappointing loss yesterday will probably cost us.

It'll be interesting to see if the committee has a short memory, or if the emphasis is on each team's entire body of work.

The Vols still sit at #1 in RPI, and still rank #1 in strength of schedule.

Will a 1-point loss be the difference in a 1-seed or a 2-seed? I really have no idea.

And Vol fans still need to remember that this was the same team that went on the road and beat Memphis. Although I was very disappointed yesterday we have to look at the full picture. This team can go all the way if they set their mind to it. I trust that Bruce will get this team fired up for the NCAAs.
