"...Representative Brian Mast of Florida, a Republican and an Army combat veteran, has called for a ban on the sale of AR-15-style rifles.

“The exact definition of assault weapon will need to be determined,” Mr. Mast said. “But we should all be able to agree that the civilian version of the very deadly weapon that the Army issued to me should certainly qualify.”

Joe Plenzler, a 20-year combat veteran of the Marine Corps, is part of a social media movement of military veterans, including those who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, calling for reforms on the sale or possession of modern military-style firearms.

“They are the Formula One cars of guns, designed to kill as many people as quickly and efficiently as possible,” Mr. Plenzler said, referring to AR-15-style rifles. “We are seeing battlefield-level casualties because we are allowing those weapons on our street,” he said.

I was just reading an article on Seeking Alpha about DAL and it said that in 2017 DAL donated $40 million to charity. Soooooo... Republican legislators will cut the tax credit DAL was going to receive on fuel that happens to be.... $40 million.

Corporate America will not allow government theft (taxation) to force them out of business. (not that $40 million will force DAL out of business)

Do the math.

Dick’s, Major Gun Retailer, Will Stop Selling Assault-Style Rifles - The New York Times

One of the nation’s largest sports retailers, Dick’s Sporting Goods, said Wednesday morning it was immediately ending sales of all assault-style rifles in its stores.

The retailer also said that it would no longer sell high-capacity magazines and that it would not sell any gun to anyone under 21 years of age, regardless of local laws.

They weren’t selling them to begin with. Their prices are nuts. They have buy one get one 50% off ammo on Black Friday and it’s STILL not a good deal.

Hog you really have no shame whatsoever...

After graduating from South Christian High School in 1999,[7] Mast enlisted in the United States Army Reserve in May 2000 and went to become a combat engineer. In 2006, he transitioned to the active U.S. Army and became an explosive ordnance disposal technician. Mast later joined the elite 28th Ordnance Company.[8] He served in Afghanistan as part of Operation Enduring Freedom. On September 19, 2010, while clearing a path for United States Army Rangers in Kandahar, Mast took a wrong step into an IED along the road. The explosion resulted in the amputation of both his legs and one of his fingers.[9][10]

Mast gets a pass with me. I don't agree with his statements (sometimes technically inaccurate) but I'll honor his service considering what he's been through.

No, I don’t and I prefaced my comments “I could be wrong”. In any case he is wrong in his comments.

Don't even try to take up for Mast. A couple of weeks ago you didn't even know who he was. And the fact he is pro-Trump means he would have received your ridicule and disdain.

Your fake outrage is intolerable.

When legislators fail to do the right thing in our Republic, it's much easier these days for the masses to effectuate necessary change. This is a good first step.

Dicks is looking for attention and and wants to get some traction from the TWITTER mafia. Many of their stores have pulled guns from their stores altogether years ago. They pulled scary looking guns from every store I've been in several years ago to. I have a nephew that works at Dicks that told me they had a nice AR in their inventory that they couldn't sell and they couldn't return. That was like five years ago. Last I talked to him it was still there.

It would get the libtards one step closer to banning all guns.

One bite at a time.

I see Dick's Sporting Goods will stop selling "Assault Rifles". Damn I wish I would have known I could have bought one there.

Dicks stopped selling ARs in 2012 at Dicks branded stores but still sold them at Field and Stream. They just stopped selling them at 35 Field and Stream stores is all.

But that is nowhere near as catchy an article title. And I never bought even a box of ammo at either one.

I liked them when they were Galyans.

Again? I didn't know they brought them back after 2012.

They didn’t. F&S has 35 stores owned by Dicks and still sold them. Never bought anything firearms related at either one.

If they really want anything that matters it would be Academy, Bass Pro, or Cabelas for big box stores.

Dicks bought them out some years ago. I liked Galyans for the store brand items and the golf section.

Ah wasn’t aware they got absorbed by Dicks.

But you nailed it. If I need golf clubs or running shoes I go to Dicks. Outdoor equipment is always Cabelas or Bass Pro. Gun specific there are a couple of smaller shops too.

I went in Dicks one time when I was looking at kayaks. They had one like I was looking for, problem was a handle was missing and there was some serious scrapes down one side. I showed it to the guy working in the department, he said he could offer me 10% off the kit to replace the handle. Lols. Bought it at Academy for cheaper. I think that’s the last time I went in one.
