I say we encourage everyone we know to:
- cancel subscriptions
- cancel advertising

Due to their slanderous treatment of UT

Furthermore, I'd appreciate it if people would stop posting links from that rag on here so I don't accidentally click on it please. Just copy and paste the text por favor if you want us to read their biased claptrap. That way they don't get more than one hit.

I believe they have about 270K subscribers but as has been pointed out in other threads, the majority of their revenue is from advertising. Tennessee definitely has a large enough presence in greater Nashville to make a statement whether it brings about any change or not. If I did subscribe to the Tennesseean, I would cancel it because for whatever good that either did or didn't do, it would make me feel better.

If people really and truly want to boycott that rag, then this is the best possible course of action to take. Has an indirect impact on the advertising dollars they generate in the future.

I think we can't copy and paste material that requires a subscription. I'll ask freak about it. Maybe the best is if a link is posted tell people it's from the Tennessean

Proud to say I cancelled my subscription last month after 40 years. Don't miss the "Tennessean" one bit!

I agree it should be boycotted, but wouldn't that give other media outlets a sensational story? That UT fans are boycotting the in-state newspaper because they disagree and ridicule what that paper is saying about the case? Even if what that paper is saying is complete bull****? Don't give into the machine my fellow Vols, we are above this crazed situation. We are Vols 4 Life after all, and have to be the shining examples of rising above it! Go mother****ing VOLS!!!

It's interesting to compare the various opinions on something like this. I'm sure "boards" of newspapers have to discuss and decide who their preferred vendors will be -- where some vendors are likely cut, for various reasons.

This is our "board" (as provided to us) and this is a discussion about the service of a vendor that some deem falls below reasonable expectations, and some vote one way and others another. It would not surprise me at all, to hear that some "board" members of news service conglomerates would try to persuade other members to vote one way or another about which vendors to keep, pick up or drop, as part of the American way.

I agree with the sentiment. It's too bad, too, because the Tennessean used to offer really great coverage of UT and regularly scooped KNS on some of the biggest stories. But ever since Chris Low left for ESPN it's been nothing but a long downhill slide.

It's there on the home page as to the source of the link. Not only for their crappy coverage of this situation, but for trying to make their points by quoting us to use it against the university, I say any press links to Vols stories should come from other sources than the Tennessean if possible. It's freaks decision, he does all the work here, but shutting these hack's links outta the site sends a loud and clear message.

Boycott them. Boycott their sponsors. And threaten to boycott any paper that tries to hire their jerk writers once we shut them down.

If every Vols fan got on board, there is no way the rest of the in-state fan bases combined could keep them afloat. Once again, I believe in the freedom of the press. Those at the Tennessean can feel free to rot in hell. And so can John Adams.

:pepper: I cancelled my subscription to the Tennessean two or three years ago. Sports Editor David Climer is an absolute jerk. Tennessean had to let their second sports editor go as things were so bad they could not afford two sports writers.

No, it would not. Actually, it would scare the ever loving hell outta them. And the next time they decided to write an "agenda" story, it will give them pause. A few in certain areas might be dumb enough to throw something out, but most will remain silent, fearing a backlash from their own readers.

I agree we need to be shining examples. Examples of how we are sick and tired of propaganda from media outlets. Be a wuss if you want. I am for showing this rag we have had enough of their crap.

Now, if someone was giving out addresses of their writers so we can throw flaming bags of dog feces on their porches, I would say don't give in. But getting Vol fans state wide on board with a boycott? Legal, acceptable, and effective.

Just keep saving, it's an election year, you never know.

No need to waste it on something that only about .01% of America has even heard about. There are some Vol fans that are in aware of all this garbage. If my computer was not my phone too, I'd be out of the loop. The lawsuit has no chance of wining in court, the only way they get paid is thru a settlement. I think as a fan base we are in for the long haul, might as well fight it, maybe some good can come from all this bologna.
