Here we go again. Ask a question and I will clarify.
Allow me to do what I can.
Your post: "there it is"
My post: what does "there it is" mean
Your post: Colbert.
My post; there it is is in regards to Colbert?
Your post: idk
What does "there it is" mean? Apparently I wrongly connected it to FCC/Carr/Kimmel. So what does it mean?
- the relationship between ABC, CBS, etc. and affiliates is tenuous.
- Disney is a huge corp where a ton of what they do is outside the FCC's control. That is not the case for TV affiliates. Their entire business is under the FCC's thumb.
- Nexstar is trying to buy Tegna, which would give them over a 39% market share, which is against FCC guidelines. The admin is reportedly willing to waive this rule and approve the merger.
- then the Kimmel thing happened
- then the FCC makes threats
- then Nexstar pulls Kimmel
It's so fkn obvious

The timeline makes it at least possible that Brendan Carr's threats were a factor behind ABC's decision to pull "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" off the air.
However, @McDad would call this either "circumstantial evidence" or a "conspiracy theory."
Carr has even made a "We're not done with you yet," type remark regarding Kimmel .... even though, now that Kimmel is off the air, he is no longer under the FCC's purview. This is insane.

Sinclair made their decision prior to Carr making his comments, how does that jive with your theory?
Not supported by the timeline.
Decisions require discussion. The discussion was held in the AM on 9/17. Carr statements in the afternoon on 9/17. And these moments are detailed in posts with links. We also are unaware how quickly the statements made on the podcast are known by the parties involved.Wrong.
Sinclair made its decision AFTER Carr threatened ABC.
### Timeline of Events
Based on public reports from September 2025, Sinclair Broadcast Group decided to suspend airing *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* **after** FCC Chairman Brendan Carr's threat against ABC. Here's a breakdown of the key sequence:
| Date/Time | Event | Details |
|-----------|-------|---------|
| **September 15, 2025 (Evening)** | Jimmy Kimmel's controversial remarks | During *Jimmy Kimmel Live!*, Kimmel made on-air comments about the politics of the suspect in Charlie Kirk's killing, sparking immediate backlash. |
| **September 16, 2025 (Morning)** | FCC Chairman Carr's threat | Carr posted on X (formerly Twitter) criticizing ABC and threatening to investigate affiliates for potential license revocation over the "inflammatory" content, citing FCC indecency rules. This amplified pressure on networks like ABC. |
| **September 16, 2025 (Afternoon)** | Sinclair's decision | Sinclair, which owns hundreds of ABC affiliates, announced it would preempt *Jimmy Kimmel Live!* effective immediately, citing "community standards" and viewer complaints. Reports (e.g., from Variety and The Hollywood Reporter) link this directly to Carr's statement as a catalyst. |
| **September 17, 2025** | ABC's suspension | ABC followed suit, preempting the show indefinitely via a spokesperson. |
This timeline is corroborated by multiple sources, including FCC statements, Sinclair's press release, and coverage from outlets like Deadline and Fox News. No evidence suggests Sinclair acted before Carr's threat—Sinclair's move was framed as a response to the escalating controversy.
The NBA and late night tv have a very similar problem. NBA commissioner dumbly admitted that it's a highlight league. He's right. No reason to watch it live. Catch the highlights all over social media the next day. Even more so with late night. Why stay up and watch a show that has probably 3-5 minutes of funny/interesting stuff when I can just catch a clip the next day? I was/am a huge Conan fan. Stopped watching him live for that reason. Now I can stay up and not watch a ton of not funny or interesting and catch the good stuff later
The political stuff with Disney was never about R vs D though, it was about putting LGBTQ+ stuff in shows designed for children. The guest made a funny point about the position Bob Iger is in.
He came out of retirement to rescue Disney. He has done everything he can to depoliticize Disney on his watch to appease the right. This scandal has made Jimmy the face of Disney, and the right hates Jimmy, so this threatens all his progress.
And this is my thought....Iger wants to retire again, and now this is going to be his legacy? That he immediately caved to Trump? He's ****ed. I don't think he expected the reaction he got.
Ikr.. this whole thread is funny lol ‘we’re going to boycott ABC and Disney’… oh noes![]()
