Still concerned about Coleman and McNeil's instincts. I think Randolph was playing at about 75% by the end of the year. Thin all around.

Sorry but Florida was not putrid when we played them their defense at that point was pretty top notch. Yes Butch Jones made a mistake in starting Peterman when he should have started Worley. Yes he made some bad decisions in the Vandy game, big deal. No the talent wasn't there to be "much better", maybe a little bit better.

I consider this season as a success, especially since we almost beat a top 10 team and beat the #11 ranked team in the country. Were there mistakes? Yes. That's to be expected from a HC in his first year with an absolute brutal schedule. IMO the SC win trumps the Vandy loss.

I assume by "bad decisions" in the Vandy game you mean the fake punt by Palardy. If we hadn't converted those 4th downs against Georgia, would those have been "bad decisions" too? I respect the hell out of a coach going for it in that situation, just like I respected the hell out of Brady Hoke for going for 2 on Ohio State to win the game. To me, it tells me that the coach has confidence in the team he's trained to execute the play, to finish the drill. It's the exact opposite of coaching scared, i.e. Dooley. While Michigan didn't convert on Hoke's gamble, he was playing to win, just like Butch MF Stones does. I wasn't thrilled with the results of the fake, but I loved the decision.

CBJ trusts Bajakian with the offense. I'm willing to give it another year before I start *****ing too much. There's something to be said for stability and how it can help the program. And for every "Butch needs his players" arguement, it applies to those who coach under CBJ as well. Perhaps as Bajakian gets players specifically recruited for this O scheme, we'll see improvement. But I do believe there's lots of room for improvement to be had.

All that said, I reiterate what I said before, if he's offered the job, I won't begrudge him if he takes it. It's not about wanting him to go, it's about the man following a career path. I'm sure he has ambitions to be a HC. If the fit feels right, he'd be foolish to pass it up. No different than a player that leaves early for the NFL. It's a calculated risk and I'm not going to wish him to fail for doing what he feels is the right choice.

anyone wanting any coach on this staff to leave, not to mention one of the more important ones (OC) is a moron... thats all this team needs is another spring practice of learning a totally new system and coach... let these coaches and players have some time to get use to a system... the fan base we have is amazing... most of the time in a good way but in cases like this it is in a bad bad way.

Lance Rentzel...read in a book that Pete Gent was quoted in that it was a recurrent problem and the reason that the Cowboys was able to trade for him

I caught Hubbs this morning on 104.5 and he addressed Bowling Green's interest in Bajakian. He said a lot more is being made of it than what there is and rattled off a few names that would be higher on their wish list. FWIW

I think the OC will be fine if he stays... but the system belongs to Jones. He will promote/hire a guy that can fall right into place if necessary. I have been critical of the coaching performance this year. I do not think the development on O was as good as it should have been. I am satisfied however that the O will come around.

I do not have that level of confidence with the DC... and do not think finding a better replacement would be difficult at all if he left.

This is absolutely right in regards to the offense. If Bajakian were to leave more than likely Jones would promote from within or hire another coach he is comfortable with. I do not get the posters on here who think he is going to go out and make a splash hire this is his offense and he only needs a coordinator to manage it.

It will be interesting to see what year 2 looks like in terms of execution and progress for the offense.

McCullers regressed over the course of the season to the point where the LB's could not pursue laterally without running around him. Miller and Walls have both played DT before and did so reasonably well. I can think of no excuse for McCullers continuing to play with his level of inconsistency and poor play.

Granted Toney had talent limitations but he kept making the same mistakes. In 16 weeks... a competent DC cannot develop ANYONE with talent to play nickel?

It is THEIR scheme but I am sure it isn't supposed to constantly have receivers running in space... right? But week after week, we saw just that. Not guys getting outrun or being unable to close... no one home. That indicates bad reads, right? How do players learn how to read?

Oh, and it does matter what Jancek actually did at UGA. That experience is more relevant to his ability to coach in the SEC than what he did in the BE against much weaker competition.

Fair enough and I really cannot debate any points you have made. I think me and you have agreed for the most part on I never understood letting the same players make the same mistakes week after week as surely the coaches were addressing the bad angles, poor reads and busted assignments in practice. I to still have questions on the defense but as I have said many times I do not know how much is on coaching and how much is on player ability.

I thought the defense was improving each week up until SC and then had a run of 3 games where they should not have even took the field. I have backed of them for the Auburn game after seeing what Auburn did to Alabama and Missouri but the way UT played against Missouri is inexcusable. To their credit I thought they bounced back and played their best game of the year against Vandy other than the last drive.

I did not mean to blanket the statement of no one wanting to debate for everyone. There are a couple who say this staff sucks and are bad coaches but give no examples of bad coaching.

I think it is crazy for anyone to judge a coach off of one season of work whether it be Jancek, Dooley or Saban. You guys act like he was the DC there for 3-4 years and was terrible every year when the reality is he was a co-coordinator for one season.

If coaches were judged off of one season of work there would be a lot less coaches because for every coach who comes in and has success in year one there is one who had failures in year one. Next year will be the year we find out if theses guys can coach or not.
