Thinking about our bowl possibilities, I believe that we need to hope Arkansas makes the SEC title game and that Auburn runs the table. That scenario will mean that Auburn will likely be an at-large BCS team. Also the winner of the SEC championship game, likely Florida, would receive the automatic BCS berth. If Tennessee can beat Arkansas this week, and go on to finish 10-2, we should be in a great position for a pretty good bowl game. Also, we would need Arkansas to beat LSU, giving them 3 losses. If all this were to happen, I believe Tennessee would at worst be in the Outback Bowl and possibly the Capital One bowl. It has been 5 years since Tennessee has been to the Capital One bowl and even longer since we have been to the Outback bowl, so logically you would think Tennessee would be a good choice for these bowls if the aforementioned scenarios play out. I know that Tennessee hasn’t had a good relationship with the Outback Bowl, but how could they pass over us again?? I don’t want to go to the stinkin Peach Bowl again, or the Cotton Bowl for that matter.

I'd rather the Cotton than the Peach. The Ga Dome has bad juju for us. I stayed at the Hilton and saw a couple Outback Bowl reps. If we win out, I'd bet that is where we are headed. That's fine. The weather in Tampa is better anyway.

It's better than packing up the pigskin at Thanksgiving.

Right now, those first tier bowl games below the BCS must be chewing their collective fingernails watching the SEC. Bama and Georgia losing to the conference scrubs actually might help our New Year plans, though. Ranked in loose order of importance, you have:

Capital One
Cotton
Outback
Chicken Sammich

Music City
Independance
Liberty

Assuming Florida and Auburn are in the BCS (a big assumption,) I would guess:

Capital One-Tennessee or LSU
Cotton-Arkansas
Outback-Tennessee or LSU
Chicken Sammich-SC

Music City-Georgia
Independance-Kentucky
Liberty-Bama

The two curveballs are that 1) the BCS could take only one SEC team, and 2) each of the "bottom 4" in the conference could, realistically, finish 8-4 (well, maybe not Ky,) or 6-6. There is very little difference from a bowl's standpoint in 2-5 in the conference or in 6-9, which could make for some strange selections.

Am hoping for Capital One Bowl in my backyard.

So am I. I would like to loose some golf balls on a couple of the Disney courses. If we can win out, I think that is a real possibility, although certainly not a lock.

If UK beats La-Monroe and Vandy, they'll be 7-5 and go to the Peach or the Liberty on the strength of the fan support for a team that usually misses bowl season. Orlando or Tampa for the Vols sounds great to me. Easy drive for me, and the ticket will probably be under $100. I'm trying to focus on the positives. :)

If its Capital One, and if schedules permit, I may indeed have to host a gathering of folks from the board here in Otown. Date, time, circumstances, location, etc., TBA.

The ONLY way the SEC gets two BCS invites will be if Arky beats UT or LSU and then plays UF in Atlanta. If AU and UF have a rematch it means there is only one 1-loss SEC team.

SEC Bowl Tie-ins and predictions as I now see it:

1. BCS Sugar Bowl Florida 12-1 SEC champs
2. Cap1 Auburn 11-1
3. Cotton Arky 10-3 (def. UT, lose LSU) SEC runner-up
4. Chick-Fil-A LSU 10-2
5. Outback UT 9-3
6. Liberty Kentucky 7-5
7. Music City S.Carolina 6-6
8. Independence Alabama 6-6

UGA at 6-6 will be looking for an at-large bid.

The absolute best case scenario for the Vols would be a UT win over Arky, an Arky win over LSU, and a UF win over Arky in the SCECG coupled with Rutgers/Pitt def. L'ville and W.Va. def. Rutgers. Under this scenario there is at least a chance that UF plays for the BCSNC while AU gets a BCS at-large. IF all that happens UT could go anywhere from Cap1 to Chick-fil-A (probably would not be there for Outback).

I really don't see an 11-1 SEC team getting left out of one of the 10 BCS slots this year, but other than that, I don't have much of a problem with those projections.

You still have 4 top tier SEC teams (Florida, Auburn, LSU, Arkansas,) in the hunt for 5 or 6 bowl spots (BCS, BCS2?, Capital One, Cotton, Outback, Chicken.)

You still have 4 second tier SEC teams (Georgia, SC, Kentucky, Bama) in the hunt for 3 second tier bowl games (Independance, Music City, Liberty.)

Win and we can celebrate the New Year someplace warm.

You and I can do it together. I'm thinking something downtown or out by attractions so it would be easy for folks to find.

I just want to meet hat.

Had a few beers and more than a few laughs with Hat over the weekend. He does not disappoint. I was calling him Govna by the time the weekend was over.

Hopefully Capital One, we should play Wisconsin, right?

Right now, the Big 10+ is looking like they will put Wisconsin in the Capital One, Iowa, Penn St., or Purdue in the Outback. The Big 12 will probably send Nebraska, Oklahoma, A&M, or Missouri to the Cotton if Texas wins the CG. The ACC could send any of 7 teams to the Chicken Bowl.

OU is going to the Cotton.

I really would like to make the Capital One Bowl. We have never been there and I am sick of the Chick-fil-a and Cotton Bowls.
