Bowl Options

The Bowl system is about money and the attendance at the game. We are very excited and anxious to go to a bowl and many will travel. Can't see the South Carolina fan base in the same position. If a team is to be left out it will be them not us.

its possible that one SEC team may not get to a bowl game but there is always the possibility another bowl somewhere with another conference tie doesn't get a team. then they could invite anyone from any conference.

Just a quick glance I have:
ACC has 11 teams for 9 bowls
Big 10 has 10 teams for 10 bowls
Big 12 has 6 teams for 7 bowls
Pac 12 has 8 teams for 7 bowls
SEC has 12 teams for 11 bowls
Amercan has 5 teams for 7 bowl
MAC has 6 teams for 5 bowls
CUSA has 8 teams for 5 bowls
Sun Belt has 6 teams for 4
MWC has 7 teams for 4

Also Army has an automaic bid to the Bell Helicopter game and they're not bowl eligible.

Ok here we go again...
Alabama is pretty much guaranteed a playoff spot. Sugar bowl

Mississippi St or Missouri is likely going to the Orange ..Missouri if they beat Alabama and Miss St if they Don't

The Peach would jump at a chance at an SEC team, Ole Miss will end up there

That leaves the Citrus /CapOne tasking a likely Missouri If they lose to Bama

Then the 6 other Bowls are allocated their teams as follows in my opinion:

Outback: Auburn
Gator : LSU
Texas: T A& M
Belk: Georgia
Music City: Tennessee
Liberty: Arkansas

These two bowls pick last
Birmingham: Florida
Independence or what they are calling it this season:USC

My best guesses.

As the Music City Bowl or Birmingham will be the only ones I can really go to, I just bought 5 tickets to MCB in hopes they'll be there. Did the same thing as soon as the Kentucky game ended in 2010. If it doesn't pan out, I'll just sell them.

I did the same thing in 05, assuming we'd beat Vandy and be going there. We went to the game anyway and had a good time.

Mississippi State and Georgia will definitely be in one of the SEC bowls, not a non SEC bowl. There are 10 SEC bowl ties. they all get an SEC team. No way around that. the top 10 SEC teams (by someone's standard) will be in those 10 bowls with Alabama in the playoff.
I always respect your input, and although what you say is technically correct, you are dead wrong if you believe all 12 schools don't go bowling.

I think Butch would kill someone if we didn't go to a bowl game after the season we just had. No joke.

The pool of 6 bowls will be picks 3-8, the picks are made by the commissioner and no one else? The payouts of the bowls are all the same? These bowls get who the commissioner assigns to them? Do they have input into to what teams they would like see play in thier bowl?

So in theory, if the SEC Commissioner wanted he could assign a 6-6 team to either the Outback or Gator Bowl? Is this correct?

Just based on the bowl reps that were at the UT vs Vanderbilt game on Saturday night, I would say that UT Has the best shot at The MCB, Liberty or Independence Bowls as they were the only reps in attendance.

I hope we get Penn State.

He owned us at Vandy. Not sure i want him and PSU right now. In a couple of years, absolutely. I want a winnable bowl game, a winning record and momentum going into the off season.

Then you want an AAC team that is a really bad conference. Maybe UT will get Memphis!!

IDK that the bowls that have a selection necessarily WANT the nearest team in the bowl. Bowls are a way to generate money for the local economy, not much to be made if the fans drive to and from home and don't fill hotels, JMO.

Hyams said this morning he thinks Tennessee ends up in the Liberty Bowl.

We haven't been to a Bowl Game in 4 yrs and people still complain about where they don't want to play. The team doesn't care where they play, and are looking forward to the extra practices and one last game for the Seniors.
