I’ve still got a case pocketknife in the box of the Liberty Bowl vs Minnesota. One of my favorite pieces of Vol memorabilia, of course it also belonged to my Dad. One of the things that’ll be passed down from me also. You're like me. From a different time zone if you know of the Bluebonnet Bowl, much less that we played in it. Reaching back a bit on that one. But, I was young. Only saw it on TV.
It’s more likely we’re seeing Miami miss the CFP than Alabama in this case.If Bama drops out of the CFP it hurts our bowl game, but im willing to sacrifice for the greater good.
If they drop two spots, they are out. Most projections I have seen have Bama dropping one spot, putting them between Notre Dame and Miami, giving the CFP the justification on not using head to head between Miami and ND.It’s more likely we’re seeing Miami miss the CFP than Alabama in this case.
UGA probably needed to beat them by more for them to drop 3 or 4 spaces instead of just, say, the normal 2 spot drop they’ve been giving most conference championship game losers since the committee started in 2014.
There’s no choice order by bowls when it comes to the Gator/Reliaquest/Music City/ Mayo/Texas/Liberty Bowls anymore.I'm saying Reliaquest or Gator as well.
Depends on who gets to choose first and which team they think will travel better and draw a larger viewing audience.

We’re almost certainly seeing the Citrus Bowl select Texas to play Michigan (unless Alabama misses the playoffs…but I’m ignoring that in this situation). There’s no choice order by bowls when it comes to the Gator/Reliaquest/Music City/ Mayo/Texas/Liberty Bowls anymore.
It’s the eligible teams submit their bowl game preferences first to the SEC offices.
The bowl games submit their preferences of available bowl-eligible SEC teams.
The SEC front offices then decide and place the SEC bowl teams while factoring in certain things like:
- trying to make sure a bowl game isn’t a rematch of a game from the current season, a game from the previous season’s bowl games, or the upcoming season
- trying to take into account proximities and travel distances for fan bases (this is more designed for smaller fan bases so that you don’t say make Arkansas or Mississippi State go all the way to Charlotte, NC, or Kentucky go all the way to Houston or Las Vegas)
- trying to make a team isn’t repeatedly playing in the same bowl game(s) (generally, they won’t put a team in the same game in back-to-back years)
This is why I think we get the Gator Bowl. We have recently played in the Reliaquest. I would assume we would prefer the Gator Bowl to the Music City, Mayo, etc. I would also assume the Gator Bowl would prefer to have us with the amount of traveling we do compared to Vandy and Mizzou. We’re almost certainly seeing the Citrus Bowl select Texas to play Michigan (unless Alabama misses the playoffs…but I’m ignoring that in this situation).
And we’re very likely seeing the conference reward a 10-2 Vanderbilt with a trip to either the Gator Bowl or the Reliaquest Bowl.
After that it becomes a question of placement for 8-4 Tennessee, 8-4 Missouri, and 7-5 LSU.
LSU played in the Texas Bowl last year and Missouri played in the Music City Bowl last year, so both of those are likely out.
LSU is an odd one here…with a similar record to Tennessee and Missouri, if all of them are unranked going into the bowl season they could just as easily be viewed as an appealing addition to the Gator/Reliaquest Bowl or end up in the Music City Bowl.
If Missouri were to jump back into the final CFP rankings and Tennessee does not, they’re likely looking at the Texas Bowl or the non-Vanderbilt Gator/Reliaquest, with a lesser chance of the Mayo Bowl.
Tennessee at 8-4 could be anywhere from the Music City Bowl to the Mayo Bowl to the non-Vanderbilt Gator/Reliaquest Bowl (this last one would become more likely if it turned out Tennessee were ranked in the last CFP rankings).
He’s got a resume to back his slop up. When JH starts winning titles and stops fielding undisciplined, uninspired teams that get beat by Vandy at home, he to will be cut some slack and can wear pajamas without criticism.Man it's a good thing Andy Reid is trim and in shape. Cause if he looked like a really fat Wilfred Brimley he wouldn't have won all those super bowls. Man, looking like a GQ model on the sidelines is SO important.
They’ll (the bowls) take the ranked in the teens 10-2 team over an unranked 8-4 team in a heartbeat. Vanderbilt’s likely getting its first choice between Gator and Reliaquest Bowls. This is why I think we get the Gator Bowl. We have recently played in the Reliaquest.
