The contracts should have performance clauses. No more paying kids to sit on our bench.Just a question. Since the rules have changed and now we are paying players, how do players get the option to just opt out? Seems like with a contract to play they should be required to show up and play if they’re healthy.
I am in the minority but the bowl game, aside from another game to watch my team before the long dry spell, is meaningless. It's an exhibition. I don't care if they win or lose. It matters for the coaches and some players, though.
I took my share of blows from the ugly stick as well, but I suspect we'll have a fair share of bowl opt outs. Maybe, just maybe, Heupel will be forced to give legitimate playing time to some of the youngsters we'll need for next season? One can hope. One look at me and you'll see i place little value on looks.
If I were coach, I would almost exclusively use the other players.I took my share of blows from the ugly stick as well, but I suspect we'll have a fair share of bowl opt outs. Coaches will not do that because total win loss, and fan perception, is a part of job security.
If Heup used a ton of young guys and lost the bowl game against a "lesser" opponent, you and others wired like you would pitch a tantrum about it.
I think a good future approach is to pay by game like the NFL. Exempt injury from losing pay at any point in season, but voluntary opt outs lose the pay for that game.Just a question. You're like me. From a different time zone if you know of the Bluebonnet Bowl, much less that we played in it. Reaching back a bit on that one. But, I was young. Only saw it on TV.I've worn some tee shirts...sweatshirts out over the years and had to get rid of some of them...Have some old ones too. Liberty Bowl vs Arkansas....Peach Bowl vs Indiana...Cotton Bowl vs Arkansas...Sugar Bowl vs Miami...Liberty Bowl Minnesota...Blue Bonnet Purdue...Liberty Bowl Maryland...I been to several of them.
Are you trying to say that Bret Bielema and Josh Heupel are in the same stratosphere with one of the top 5 NFL coaches of all time?Man it's a good thing Andy Reid is trim and in shape. Cause if he looked like a really fat Wilfred Brimley he wouldn't have won all those super bowls. Man, looking like a GQ model on the sidelines is SO important.
We were the Bluebonnet Kings of attendance there for awhile. Like SOS said about us and the Citrus Bowl....I think the team just kept the same hotel reservations on hold there in Houston for several years just in case. Lol...You're like me. If we play in Jacksonville could play Virginia, Miami, Louisville, Pitt, SMU
If we play in Charlotte could play those teams along with Duke or Wake Forest or Clemson
If we play in Tampa, we could play Iowa, USC, Washington, Illinois
If we play in Nashville, we could play N'Western, Minnesota, Illinois or Penn State
I'd put some money that we won't play them since we open with them next season.
If the Gator choose Ga Tech, we will lobby for Tampa or Charlotte
Don't forget Bill Parcells. He too, took great care in his appearance and physique. Bill Belichick also always made sure he presented himself in the utmost professional manner.Man it's a good thing Andy Reid is trim and in shape. Just a comment. Based on the crowds I see in pro football stadiums, I don’t think looks and couth are high on their agenda. They don’t care how a pro franchise represents itself as long as it wins. On the other hand, most graduates of a particular university do care how their school is represented and viewed (while winning of course). But maybe that’s just me. If one isn’t a graduate then it might as well be another pro franchise. Of course, it’s probably headed that direction anyway.Don't forget Bill Parcells.
