South Carolina beats us. Never beaten a team coached by Muschamp.
Candy beats us. Our d line is bad. They run the ball on us.
Missouri beats us. Seldom beat them. They have our number.
Might beat Ky. No Josh Allen. No Bennie Snell.

4 non conference wins. If lucky, we get 1 SEC win. State or Ky but not both
With regards to your comment about Vandy....I partially agree, because there’s no doubt that do indeed run the ball on us. But recall that the last 3 years/games, here are their passing numbers vs UT....72-100, 1,066 yards, 9 tds, 1 interception. They’ve run it down our throats AND passed it at will vs both Jones’ and Pruitts’ teams the last 3 games.

My simulator predictions:

Ga St - 100%
BYU - 80%
Chatt - 100%
Florida - 30%
UGA - 20%
Miss St - 40%
Bama - 10%
USC - 40%
UAB - 90%
UK - 65%
Mizzou - 30%
Vandy - 50%

This shoots out a 75% bowl probability.

Most likely finishes:
5-7 19%
6-6 25%
7-5 26%
8-4 16%

8-4 is floor, 10-2 is ceiling imo.

If UT doesn’t even make a bowl, UT hired the wrong guy.
99% of coaches have the biggest improvement in year 2. Anything under 8 is a big underachieving year.
Classic UT football fan group think,

Our roster is still trash and hasn't been developed.

This is the SEC. There are no easy games and we aren't guaranteed to win a damn thing.

We see it every year. The new recruits are going to step in and immediately be successful. The coaches are going to turn a sows ear into the proverbial silk purse with existing talent. The staff is filled with guys who will develop, out coach, out scheme and generally hex the opposition. We'll go from losers to contenders in a year and if we don't, we'll fire them all and find someone who will.

Simply put...it's an incurable mental condition that there is no cure for. It will go into remission just about the time the UF game goes final. By the time we get past UGA and Bama, the orange kool-aid hangover will be in full effect. We'll be back to reality hoping for 6-7 wins and a bowl game. We'll then turn our attention to staff changes and recruiting. Then the cycle starts all over again.

You know why it keeps happening every year? Because even after all of you guys that get your panties in a wad because a bunch of fans have this "incurable mental condition" and constantly make fun of them ......they live.

Don't really care one way or the other. Just an observation.

Okay, it just seemed to be pretty detailed for not really caring, and for the most part I agree with you, just not the condescending overtone.

It could be said its an incurable mental condition that a large group here get so bent out of shape about someone else's Win/Loss prediction. I'm not necessarily talking about you, but you know what I'm talking about.

We see it often. "I predict we go 8-4."

"LOL, you're a delusional idiot. Same sh** every year!!!! Champs of the off season!!!!! We might go 7-5".

because it is delusional as **** to have expectations of turning the WORST team and roster in UT history around into an elite team in one season.

I can't say I *expect* us to be in a bowl game at the end of this season...it's certainly within the realm of possibility, though, as the recent staff and personnel improvements are encouraging. Even so, I'm still in 'wait and see' mode.

I think we sweep non-con and win 3 or 4 SEC games. So 7-5 or 8-4. Here are my 4 reasons why:

1. Another full year of S&C
2. Chaney will improve JG. How much is the question.
3. We added at least 3 starters imo in recruiting who are better than current players. Wright and Morris at tackle. Both start, one will probably dominate. And then one of To’oto’o/Crouch at ILB. Whoever starts at ILB probably won’t start day 1, though.
4. We actually have a legit SEC running back one-two punch now with Chandler and Gray, who is an early enrollee. And both are smaller, shifty running backs (relative to the backs Pruitt is used to at Bama), which will help mask our improved, but still mediocre O-line.

Fair point about the responses. Sadly, I think it's a symptom of our culture along with the anonymity the Internet provides that has us losing the ability to enjoy civil discourse and to have differing views. I admire the tenacity and eternal optimism of our younger fans. Wish I could return to that frame of mind, but the decades of following UT make it impossible for me.

Yep, I’ll stand by it. No reason not to win 8. I’d be 90 on that but my concern is changing coaches, you normally want your first staff together for at least a couple years to help the players adjust to new systems, they shouldn’t change much with Chaney and Ansley however.

There aren't many gimmies on next year's schedule. Georgia St, BYU (some wouldn't call that a gimmie), UTC, UAB (some wouldn't call that a gimmie either). When you only have 4 "will win" games, putting the floor at 8 is really aggressive. At Florida, Georgia, at Alabama are likely losses. Miss St, South Carolina, at Kentucky, at Mizzou, and Vandy seem like toss ups at this point. You typically don't win huge percentages of those games.

Yes, Kentucky, Mizzou, and Vandy are all expected to be down, but I remember at this point last year we thought we had a great chance at winning each of those games. We only won one of them, and oddly enough it was against the best team of those 3. We had trouble beating Vandy and Mizzou before Shurmur and Lock too.
