Butch made the right call.

Field goals need to be practiced like everything else.

It was an either or situation. The game was well in hand. So which one choice was more valuable for future purposes?

I think Butch is sort of learning on the job about some things. And I like how he's progressing!

He's not as far along as I would like but he's progressing which is a positive thing.
The university is not making a change anytime soon so I'm hopeful his progress will continue

Kicking a field goal there makes absolutely zero sense. It's not like we needed the points. It's not like TT was gonna come back on us. We should have given our offense one more chance to punch it into the endzone. Let these younger players play for goodness sakes. It just seemed awkward and I think Butch knew how it was gonna look.

Maybe he also was trying to give the field goal kicker some playing time. Since the game really wasn't on the line why run up the score even more?

Outside of Chip Kelly or Lane while he was at USC, there isn't a coach in the country that doesn't kick the FG in that situation.

Actually it makes perfect sense....you got the ball with the 2 minute offense being run by the second string . They do their job in getting points. If its 3 so be it but they got the points going into half and that's what mattered ATthat time.

I think the reason why this has garnered so much discussion is because there wasn't a right or wrong call in that situation. You re up 35-0, the game was over at the kickoff. It doesn't matter if you score 3,7 or nothing at that point.

Im not sure how much AM gets from kicking a EP from the hash.

Had he gone for it (and got it) would it been the "right" call because the offense needed confidence after laying an egg 2 games in a row?

I think people are trying too hard to justify what he did choose to do like it was a no brainer. In reality it didn't matter.
