Blame it on his dad. Most said pretty positive things, considering, before his dad spoke. That opens the gates. Handle your business. But don't try to adversely affect the program as you try to handle your own business.

I can agree the kid hasnt handled the situation the best, i still just dont see the point in the name calling.

Is it a fact that he left secretly in the night? Serious question, i hadnt seen that.

He was here for a couple weeks or whatever, stuff didnt work out (regardless of the reason) and now people are all over him calling him a baby. Sounds like a defense to me. He is a baby daddy. He lost kid status when that happened.

Yep, he was supposed to report to go to milligan, and no showed to deal with personal problems. Then, this broken promise crap came out.

On a side note...tough cookies on the baby thing. I see so many young kids popping babies out and acting as if its OK. If you can have kids then be prepared to deal with adult things in life, and toughen up.

My thing is how do we know he wants his dad speaking for him?

I realize im in the minority on this and im fine with that. I just dont understand having a thread full of hate on the kid. Whats done is obviously done. He isnt part of our team anymore. Lament the fact it didnt work out, wish the kid luck, and move on. One week til game week, weve got bigger fish to fry.

On the contrary, i disagree whole heartedly with his decisions. I also realize that no one is perfect and people make mistakes. Seems to me he has made plenty mistakes recently. My whole point is there is no reason to be down on the kid because of it. When someone makes a mistake you are supposed to help them learn from it, not continuously rip them over it. I hope davante has someone who can help him learn from this.

We're lucky to get rid of this kid now before we invested anything more in him. The last thing we need is a quitter who has no respect for his coaches or his teammates. It's a shame, but the kid's going to be a cancer to any team with that attitude.

He flipped here because of our depth chart and the chance for early playing time, right?

If I put two and two together, it seems like he was getting beat out in practice and wasn't in the running to get a lot of playing time during the year. He probably felt that he was guaranteed touches and got upset when it became apparent that it wouldn't just be handed to him.

If I'm close and that's really the case, then I can't say I have a lot of sympathy. Adversity is a part of life. The way you handle your bad breaks is what defines you as a man or woman. I wish him luck, though, and I hope he gets everything straight.

Was fine with this story until his father called out the coaching staff. Having been in this kid's shoes, I can tell you it was a tough spot. However, the lack of personal accountability is not surprising. A complete lack of courage expressed by this guy's father. I was half way home and called my dad. He said get your @$$ back to school. If you come home you won't be living here.

No big loss for UT but this young man will regret his decision for the rest of his life. He'll never admit it but it will always be there...quitter

How many fall practices did Borque even attend 2-3? I say he should STFU before he makes himself look any worse. He was a drama queen during his recruitment and he is still one today. Complete waste of time and money.

If he doesn't want his dad speaking for him then he should let the media know that. Not speaking up equates to him being okay with what his dad says.

What's done is done but what's going on is his father slandering UT and its coaches. That's what people are upset about. If you're going to make unsupported accusations, expect a response. If DB and his father don't make it an issue, it won't be an issue.

I was about to mention this. Wasn't his mom on here arguing with complete strangers because people, on a UT football message board, were discussing her son? All the while her son was having a crisis and dropping out of college? Yeah, priorities. She got em. fo sho.

Seriously I think even Hyams can see through this pathetic attempt to put the blame on Dooley. What makes my blood boil is his dad saying "He was going to give it up. That's how frustrated they had him in knoxville". What a load of crap. We need a running back so the staff did everything they could to frustrate Borque to the point that he wanted to give up football?

This is what I hate about collegiate athletics. 17 - 22 year olds having to live their lives under public scrutiny. DB has made some terrible decisions. That much is obvious. He definitely should have handled his leaving the program better. But the why is none of our damn business. He has to live his life for himself and his family not for us. There's a good possibility playing football hundreds of miles from home isn't for him especially with a baby. I hope he has explained or does explain his decision to the staff and I wish him the best of luck in the future.
