Playing shadow of mordor and I'm getting 30 frames per second on all settings. At ultra it's a set 30 and even on lowest it's a set 30 it's like the game doesn't want to go past that regardless of settings ultra or lowest. I've got the max frames in the game set to 60 but it won't surpass 30 on any settings. Lowest and ultra are both solid 30 no dips

I'm actually looking into making my consoles my second option on gaming. I plan on playing all the strategy games you mentioned, the witcher, fallout, and shadow of mordor. Hoping I can get a good framerate at ultra

I don't think you will have many problems running almost anything out there right now with that card. I'm on a 780 now and it's doing just fine.

I've pretty much only been playing war thunder here lately though. I need to get on my growing list of games I need to play.

I have a big backlog just for PS4 and Xbox One. I could not imagine how big it would be if I had a good gaming PC.

I'm loving this pc gaming. I may never go back to consoles I'm amazed I've been missing out on this

I've tried finding this setting to do this and I've had no luck

If you can find your way to the control panel, and then search in the bar for "power options", you might find them. Or sometimes there is a batter icon in the bottom right somewhere that once clicked on will let you click on a power option tab.

I won't spend time suggesting games, because most of them have been mentioned already. The only one I haven't seen much is the Dragon Age games. It's a strategy type game. Dragon Age II is quite bad imo, but the first (Origins) was quite well done. Very detail lore and background to be immersed in.

Just keep an eye on Steam though like others said. There are sales where great games will be dirt cheap. I've picked up some good ones for nothing.

I appreciate all of the tips from you all. How do I display my GPU temp and stuff like that in the corner while I'm gaming?

Oh and v sync on or off? And should I set the frame limit to 60 or unlimited? I noticed during shadow.of mordor when I had the cap at 60 I'd dip to 55 occasionally but once I set it to unlimited I began getting 75 and sometimes 60 at the lowest

i think you will need to run your games in window (kills performance) or i think there are some physical plug in devices that will read it for you. you probably need a cooling tray if you are getting serious about it. burned my lap more than a few times working late at night.

with the unlimited frame rate is just so bad computers don't kill themselves. your computer can probably handle it fine. some older games might have an issue with their software not able to handle the higher output but that is just my opinion on that last part.

never knew what v sync actually was.

stolen from google

VSync stands for Vertical Synchronization. The basic idea is that synchronizes your FPS with your monitor's refresh rate. The purpose is to eliminate something called "tearing". I will describe all these things here. Every CRT monitor has a refresh rate

typical three button mouse? if you really want to throw yourself a curve and have games that will make use of it there are 4 and more button mice. I had one for a while but never replaced when it died because only 2 of the games I played made real use of it.

Was getting about 50 frames on ultra on the witcher. I switched a few things to high along with keeping some stuff ultra now it doesn't dip below 60. I've got buddies with desktops who don't get frames like that in the witcher. I'm also amazed how much better it looks than the console version
