Bottom line guys...

This is simply a terrible football team. The Oline is not a SEC quality OLine. The QB is mediocre at the very best; Simms is tough as hell but that is about it. The Dline is undersized and creates little to no pressure most of the time. The secondary sucks for the most part. I don't think I've ever seen an SEC team have this many true freshmen starting and contributing early. We can throw stones at Dooley all day long but the truth is Lombardi himself couldn't do much with this team against the competition they are up against. It is going to take some time. Next year I just expect progress, maybe 8 wins. The third year if Dooley has what it takes we can compete for a SEC title again.

The future looks bright...the present is sickening...

Fulmer created a mess...Kiffin perpetuated it...Dooley is a man for taking on the task of cleaning it up...he deserves our support

I for one am not about to bail on him...

And in 2012 when all of these youngsters playing now form one of the deepest and most talented teams in the league I won't have to say I was wrong for bashing him relentlessly in 2010

No, I'm watching the highlights of the Tennessee game looking for all of that improvement you guys were raving about all week.

Hat , well need a few beer trucks to get through the rest of this season and next year, and then we can let the beer goggles wear off, cause honestly I dont think we are going to win many more games, And watching Fulmer squirm on his seat when Brando tries to get a comment out of him, well thats the most enjoyment my family is having on saturdays of late. Improvement Are we talking about Improvement! Well , Thats Deep and DRY! Thanks PHIL!

He was a silent.

Our numbers were running low, and the way we were going to close, some had to be turned down.

We would of landed Chaz Green, and in my opinion Coleman. I know Shon was going to visit. Closing with guys like Dixon, Willis, Jones, Green, Robey, Hunter, Prater or Rogers, your going to have number issues.

Was a silent...

Prater was visiting Tenn the week after Kiffin left. We would of landed either Prater or Rogers. Of course Kiffin might have wanted Sims or Stone, but couldn't due to the signing limit.

I'm seriously throwing up in my mouth a little watching you defend the class Kiffin was supposedly putting together...

What you're claiming could be 100% true and it would still be completely irrelevant because that son of a ***** left us hangng out to dry...

I consider what he did to our prgram the equivilent of slapping my mother in the face...

How someone could say anything positive about him...regardless of the validity of it...and still call themselves a Vol fan is completely beyond me

Throw up all you want. He was going to land an excellent class. Ya, he left us at the worst possible time, and is a huge prick. The man and his staff could recruit, and we were going to compete for championships by 2012. He's a d-bag, but we were going to win big. I have no doubt in my mind about it, no matter his character.

I'm not sure why anyone would think Kiffin needs defending. Is he sending PMs asking for help?

Our best and most talented players are freshmen and sophomores...our roster has been dessimated by attrition, poor development and recruiting busts...today is probably the sickest I've ever felt watching my team play...

I'm not saying that we'll have more talent and depth than any other SEC team by 2012...I'm just saying I fully expect us to have enough of both to go toe to toe with anyone on our schedule by that year...

You all played inspired today and I don't want to take away from that...but I think even UGA fans have to admit their team beat what amounts to half a team today
well... the to's helped quite a bit too.

The main point about Kiffin's recruiting is not to defend CLK.

In my mind, it is to counter the notion that UT can not recruit with UF, Bama, and LSU.

We can, we have, and, if we ever want to win championships and become relevant again, we will. There is no alternative that achieves these later goals.

We must have a coach who can recruit at the highest levels of college football to be competitive at those levels. Plain and simple.

Agreed, that was my point in the first place. It can be done here.

I think you made the points well.

I just didn't want them to be misconstrued as a defense of Kiffin as some were casting it towards the end of this thread. :hi:

I was defending his recruiting which is excellent, not his character.

I don't disagree with that at all...I just don't agree that Dooley isn't getting it done in recruiting...

We lead or are in the top 2-3 for several big time recruits and 90% of the players we have committed now are having monster senior seasons....

We should let this class play out before we say it's not on par with an upper level SEC recruiting class...even if alot of these kids don't get the mythical 4th star (i.e. Kerbyson, Smith, Randolph, Worley, Coleman) it's impossible to deny they're all playing like legit D-1 prospects against excellent competition

I know it's just my opinion and I respect anyone who disagrees with it but I honestly believe we will have enough to rejoin the upper level teams of the SEC by 2012...it rests alot on finishing this recruiting class so I know it's not a given...and in the mean time I just have to continue feeling sick on Saturdays

Hat, I respect you. Always loved your straight forward-ness. Been a lurker/poster for years. so, I ask this in all due respect, how do you see the problem being fixed?

I think it starts at the top with MH. In the 6 seasons he's been here we have gone from competing to being the bottom feeders and it has been an ugly trip.
Our BOT and influential boosters will have to demand a change and make it happen. We need a full cleaning from the top to the bottom and nothing short of that will fix our problem.
It will take a few years once the cleaning starts but it will make all the difference.

Off the top of my head I'd trade with TCU right now.
Chris Del Conte has done a great job at TCU in both hiring/retaining coaches and $ is through the roof at TCU! I know some will shout that MH has raised money here and has done great at it. But there is a huge difference in raising $ at UT and TCU. Give Del Conte the job and in short order we will be back on top.

Of course, I am. If you don't think a K Mart staff taking over a dumpster fire roster is going to catch up to the upper echelon of the SEC in two years, it has to be that you are negative.

Hat, Since you are obviosly much more knowlegeable about UT football and where we are than anyone else, would you please give us, (the uninformed), the blueprint for restoring greatness to our program. Please list coaching hires, O and D co-ordinators, players to recruit, AD, and any other things necessary. (Just so we will know what to look for.) Seriously, I have never heard your blueprint for success, just a bunch of smart ass, holier than thou, elitist bull****. Why don't you come in and coach, or AD, or whatever job you didn't get that made you such a jerk.

He was doing exactly that. At one point, there was talk of a potential top class. The talent we have now is here because he recruited them.

The job requires someone who can recruit with those three schools. It is harder to do as it must be done nationally, but that is part of the job description.

If a coach can't do that, he's not qualified for the job. It's that simple.

That's why hiring a losing coach from the WAC was such a stupid decision.

So my question to you then is this...... Who should we have "FORCED" to come be the next head coach at UT? NOBODY wanted the job with the program in it's current situation, the timing of Cinderella leaving before she turned back into an unwanted step child, not to mention, the schedule, the fan base that can never be satisfied.. So tell me again.... Who were we going to get? I don't know if Dooley is the right guy.. I know he was really the ONLY guy willing to take on the challenge and for that reason alone he has my support.. For me has enough time to get his own players in here and coach/ teach them. By year 3-4 if we are still looking like a Miles coached team out there.. Then I will want us to start looking for the home run guy.. Until then I will take a healthy dose of Xanex and try to stay calm.

Oh and by the way.. Kiffin left us, we didn't boot him. So I could give a rats a$$ what he woulda done, coulda done, shoulda done. I hope him and all the other a-holes that bailed on us hang themselves from an I-405 overpass somewhere near Disney!

If it does play out where Dooley has a dozen or so 4 and 5* commits and some linemen with potential to have an impact on winning games in the SEC by 2012, Dooley will be in great shape. He could solidify the fanbase if he case simply show that he's capable of getting these guys ready to play with more heart for the games that remain.

Chaney is solid as an OC. Wilcox really needs to step it up.

Amazingly, they'll need to play with more emotion than they did yesterday to beat UK or Vandy.

do you find any enjoyment out of life? I am asking you this seriously, because I can't recall ever seeing you post something positive.

That guy is really a vol fan at heart, he shows his frustration in a manner that most people don't recognize as proper message board etiquette.

Tune in on Sunday afternoon...he hosts a beat down session with his posse. Funny stuff...you won't learn anything from this guru or his sheep, but you will get a laugh or two.

He may be a fan, but a true vol fan he is not. True fans don't take every opportunity to slam every aspect of the program and insult every real fan he encounters. He is simply an overly confident know-it-all that most likely suffers from little man syndrome.
