Both QBs will play

I'm thinking we win 9 games this season, Crompton will play Much better this Year and maybe the fans will have his back for a change!

I think CLK was referring to Spurier style shuffling QB's in and out during a single game, saying this would not allow the QB to get into a game rythm.

I don't think he meant that if the orignial starter played horrible he wasn't willing to pull them in favor of the back up?

Thus, what CLK meant was that he would not go into a game planning on playing two QBs. But he never said he was against pulling the starter in favor of the back up if the starter sucked.

That's true, and I just stated what the reason is.
And like a few others, you're saying that Kiffin will be so selective as to tell a 5* QB who is already committed and would provide much needed depth for 2009 & 2010...to just "BEAT IT KID, we'll find a BETTER FIT next class"...and now all of a sudden, he's so desperate from one guy transferring out that he's going to abandon his own standards and just bring in a warm body?

Yeah, makes perfect sense. Just because there is a pressing need doesn't mean he has to go out an pick up the first "fat chick" he sees...not after you just kicked Jessica Simpson to curb. :)

Boyd, if that's who you are talking about was a 4*. Also BJ transferred after spring practice. Lamaison is worth a scholly for the simple fact it gives them a competent QB to run scout team.

Kiffin said that he would stick with the starting QB for the season. There's a reason that these guys were so bad last year and it wasn't necessarily the offensive scheme either. These guys were terrified that if they didn't do well they would be yanked one for the other. It's not happening this year because unless they understand how to overcome adversity, they will never amount to anything as a QB.

Kiffin never said he would stick with a QB for the season. He said that he would like to have one guy take hold of the job and run with it without having to look over his shoulder if he messes up.

I am sure Kiffin is more than willing to replace a QB who can't get the job done hopefully sooner than it took Fulmer last year to make that decision.

That is pretty much what Kiffin said during a conference...

Chris Low is a freakin idiot, he got this info from jmmy hyams. All this article is intended to do is make Lane Kiffin look like he has no clue how to evaluate personel.

Give Lamaison 1 to 2 years to acclimate to SEC play and he'll do OK. He's not a world beater by any means though. He will be a career backup, IMO.
I want a marquee QB as much as anyone, and I'm not predicting Lamaison to be one, but I've seen enough to be optimistic. I think a redshirt this year is a likelihood, and we'll have a better idea in the spring where he is. He'll get plenty of work as it will just be him and Stephens.

With that being the case, I wonder if we don't go hard after Rettig since he is supposed to be an early enrollee and can be a 3rd QB in the spring. I don't know if Cam Newton could be here in the spring as well...but I have to believe the staff wants to get a 2nd QB (Bray will probably be one) who can be here then...and not be stuck with just 2 during spring practice.

Negative. Boyd was a 5* all the way and was the Co-MVP (along with Bryce Brown) in the Army All American Bowl. Please...it's one thing to state something you're not certain of, and be corrected. It's another to try and correct someone when it's you who has the wrong information.

Boom...Roasted.

And just where are you getting your information, anyway? Please divulge where you heard Kiffin stated Lamaison was brought here just to run the scout squad. That's usually what you have walk-on's do.

Right...just because you may or may not like them, doesn't make them any less legit. Sounds like a lot of backpedaling on your part...trying to ease that foot stuck in your mouth. Want some butter to help with that?

So, when you get busted for giving out false information, and trying to correct folks with that bad information, you can just summarily discount which source you want? Why not say "If I remember correctly, Rivals didn't give him a 5*"...?

Boyd was also on ESPN's top 150...ranked 58 overall...Smart guy

Then why didn't you say he was a 5* on Scout?? Good job giving out that false information.

I never look at Scout, because everyone knows they are not respected. I have nothing against them but it's a fact.

You are acting like a giant tool.

The majority of posters on VN believe than Rivals is superior to both Scout and ESPN for football recruiting ratings.

An interesting point is that if Stephens and Crompton are even right now, shouldn't Stephens move ahead quickly based on the fact that Crompton had a bunch more snaps in the spring to get a head start?

I hope Jon Crompton starts and does well in CLK's offense! With that said....I will be behind whomever CLK decides to put out there! As long as UT runs the ball well it should be QB friendly.

Just figured I would bump this thread at this point in the season. :)

Nice bump, I am very surprised at Crompton's play since the third quarter of the uga game. He is playing like I thought he would at the beginning of last year, but better late than never. Hopefully he continues for the rest of the year, which I think he will
