Botch on the way to Maryland

Good question, seems to be random selection for threads to be moved or merged.

I thought the talent was bad last year as well under Butch. It is not difficult to spot a lack of quality speed, strength, size, depth, etc but maybe it's just me.

Add the lowered expectation quotes from Jones. Multi-year track record of blow torching games with a unblemished losing record to Muschamp. It was the culture of UT football under Jones. His recruiting rankings were distorted by quantity and many of his transfers were higher ranked guys.

You won't catch me knock a 1st year coach that plays to win. If we get one of those well timed on-side kicks then they were momentum in our favor. They were low risk, high reward because the Vols were generally behind and generally outmanned so don't kid yourself. They all seemed to have the curse of bad execution by a program that has struggled. Saban pulled off an on-side kick against Fulmer in his 1st year at Alabama. His players executed it and it led to a win.

Now take Butch for instance, he coached scared and made moronic decisions which I noticed year 1. I always use Florida as an example, Muschamp coached, when he started Peterman. This fool did not notice that Peterman had broken a finger/hand in the first half even as he was going 4-11 for 5 yards and 2 int's. This after we had taken 7 point lead with incompetent QB play.
Alabama beat us 41-17 that year, so it wasn't an,onside kick that led to a win, it was their entire gameplan. That is my main issue with Pruitts first year. In several games the offensive game plan didnt even look like we were trying to win.

I am from Maryland, and some of my Terp friends are legit excited to land Butch. I don’t get it.

I live in MD also. My coworker is a MD alum and a season ticket holder for years and he said that everyone is excited about Locksley, but no one is excited about Lyle. He said that move was a head scratcher.
