So the wife and I will be travelling to Boston for a few days and will be there for the UGA game on the 30th. I know its been asked of other cities and such but are there any Vol Bars or groups here that watch up there?

Or otherwise Boston ideas, we are caatching the closing game at Fenway on Sunday v. the Astros.

I just found out that I am a direct descendant of Priscilla Mullins and John Alden. Go by Plymouth and tell Grammy and Grampy hi for me.

I was in Boston last weekend and one of the days I wore a Tennessee polo. A Boston cop stopped at a red light rolled his window down and starting singing Rocky Top. He actually said "Let's go Rocky Top" but still gotta give him a lot of credit :)

If you truly bleed the blessed orange, seek out and find a man named Roland James. He is a Vol legend, was an All-American, a supremely nasty hitter in the backfield, and was a first-rounder for the Patriots. He then made a career of helping inner-city kids. Google him, find where he works, call him and ask if you can stop by. If you get to meet him, please shake his hand for me.

WikP says: "He currently resides in Sharon, Massachusetts and is working as the Director of Youth Services at the Somerville Community Youth Program in Somerville, Massachusetts, and is active in other charitable work.[4]"

Roland James could fly and hit like a rhino. He ran through people. Think Jack Tatum, Jack Lambert, Steve Atwater, etc.

For me and my generation, talking with Roland James for 20 minutes would be better than a game at Fenway. And I love baseball. But that's me. Enjoy your trip!

Go to "The Greatest Bar" on Friend Street. Not a Vol bar, but it's pretty good.

That's awesome. Love a guy that made it and gives back. Speaking of former Vols that played for the Patriots, Stanley Morgan should be in the NFL Hall of Fame, imo. Over 10,000 receiving yards, over 70 receiving TDs and averaged 19.2 yards a catch in 13 seasons for the Patriots. This was back in the days (70s and 80s) when the rules were not as kind to the WRs as they are now.

Yeah, I second this. I'm in Boston regularly and discovered this place attending Bruins games, I love it.

Cask n' Flagon is my go to place at Fenway.

All I found for Boston.

Enjoy lots of room and great food at The North Star.
Bar details: With a lively atmosphere and ample room to pace around when the game gets close, the North Star is one of the best bars in Boston to watch college sports. It has a bistro-style menu with favorites like sliders, sandwiches and salads and a number of drink options, including $3 cans of Pabst Blue Ribbon and Narrangasett.

Who watches here: The North Star is a popular spot for college sports. In particular, fans of the University of Tennessee Volunteers, University of Colorado Buffaloes, University of Central Florida Knights, University of Arizona Wildcats, Kansas State University Wildcats and Virginia Tech Hokies. Alumni can even enjoy indoor tailgates here with corn hole and Beirut competitions.

Go to the UTK alumni website, search for a Boston alumni group, and it will have contact information for their chapter president. I am sure they will be able to guide you to where the best place to watch the game in Boston would be, they might even be having a watch party of their own that you can join.

Edit: I looked it up, they are planning on having a watch party for the Georgia game at Vanderbilt Kitchen and Bar, 105 Water Street, Boston, MA 02109.

This link is old, but the contact info for the UT Alumni group in Boston on this link is accurate:

http://web.utk.edu/~utaa/regions/outofstate/130831-bostontv

The Boston Alumni group is active and always has a meetup for the games. Last year the bar was North Star but in previous years it was Greatest Bar. Seeing as North Star closed this year, it'll probably be something different, but you can e-mail the Boston UT Alumni coordinator to get added to the email list for this year.

Thanks for post! A name from the past. What a player! I think any Vol fan should look up old Vol players when they are out of their area traveling. I have never done it, but in my limited travel I think I will try doing this. I'm sure most of the old players would appreciate the jester. (if not imposing) We owe them the honor. (bye the way their is an old running back at the Opera Land Hotel look him up)
