:rock::rock::rock:The Haslam sons yes,
not the father, Jim Haslam.
Worse yet the Governor Bill Haslam is setting himself up to become the UT President in 2019.
That is why he is trying to have the Tennessee legislature reduce the number of Trustees from 27 to 11...control.

The Haslams have to go. They’re rotten to the core.

No way.. money matters

No way we can let him make the decisions, no amount of money is worth incompetence. If he want to donate fine, but he cannot be allowed to make decisions and manipulate it all. Dang the whole world knows he is isn't good at sports decisions. GBO!!!!

He doesn't have a snowballs chance to beat Trump in Tennessee alone in 2020 much less win the Presidency. He needs to put down the pipe. Tennessee voters are going to send home licking his wounds from a arsewhipping. GBO!!!!

Thanks for posting Celina! Where you been lately girl, you haven't called Finebaum latley! You're known on there as Celina fom Ohio. Miss your input. :hi:

I have a stupid (and mostly self-inflicted) publication schedule this year. But thanks for remembering me.

The connections between Jubran and the Haslam family are disturbingly deep-seated. Raja's last name might as well be Haslam because he's definitely the mouthpiece of the Haslam agenda, which he pushes from the Vice-Chair's seat on the Board of Trustees.

SB 2260 will more than likely be passed tomorrow. The committee approved it with an 8-0 vote on the down low, hoping no one would notice. Here's my biggest problem with the bill--

Why the rush?

Why push through legislation that REQUIRES the BoT to be disbanded and replaced with a NEW BoT where Governor Haslam appoints every...single...member? Why not table the reconstitution of the BoT until the next administration is elected this fall? Why does it have to be now?

The short answer seems to be so that the Governor in essence gets to hire the people who will then hire HIM to replace DiPietro, which with Jubran in the Vice Chair and all Haslam appointees is almost certainly what will happen. If this was legitimately about making the UT system more streamlined and efficient, then no one should have any trouble tabling the discussion on this bill until 2019, right?

Not too much to ask if everything's on the up and up. The only reason any politician could have a problem with delaying this vote until the 2019 administration is in place is if things are NOT on the up and up. At least, that's how it seems to me.

At any rate, I think the Senate vote is a lost cause. What anyone who objects to this bill should be doing is targeting the House, which is far more likely to be a successful tactic in stopping this blatant attempt by the Haslams to consolidate power over UT. JMO, of course.

Agreed jake.
And I have no delusions of Haslam being "out".
But stopping his bill from removing all opposition from the BoT is imperative. He no longer wants majority share and the loudest vote, he's wanting complete dictatorship.

Agreed.

Maybe that's why they haven't fired Holly yet. They want to have complete control with the Haslam yes men before they appoint their female version of Schiano that is unpopular with the fans and shove it down their throats.

Umm, we read you the first time. The post said "UT President", not POTUS. You are welcome. :hi:

What's the over under on Fulmer and Pruitt remaining at UT? Neither are Haslam appointees.

I say Fulmer 2 years and Pruitt 4 years.

Possibly Fulmer, but if Pruitt is winning there would be no reason for them to get rid of him.

I doubt Bill Haslam's motivations are keyed to sports. He just wants the UT Presidency as a cushy post-gov landing spot that puts him back in Knoxville with an influential power position that's relatively easy to maintain. And it gives him a nice perch from which to orchestrate future moves (higher office mayhaps?). Having near-absolute say over sports is just a nice perk and he'll no doubt be happy to make use of it.

Lets be honest. The reason there was such outrage about Schiano was there were so many expecting or hoping for Gruden. And if not him...then at least another high profile name. When word of Schiano broke. ...everyone was like "WHAT"? And it had more to do with how lame a hire it seemed and less with the PSU stuff. The PSU stuff just made it all the more worse. Lame AND tainted. The legislators protesting are fans just like us and have a strong desire to see UT back at the top....like the fans. Make no mistake though....the fans voice WAS heard. Big time.

Knowing a few of the board members they actually like the idea of reducing the size of the BoT. They have been ineffective for a while. This is not strictly a Haslam thing from what I have heard.

Fake news in my opinion. something I have observed by "bad leaders" is that they will grasp at excuses when anything goes wrong. I think this is the convenient excuse of the inept.

I don't suppose anybody has taken a poll, but my bet is that out of 2 or 3 million fans, it only took 50 people to keep the hype alive that Gruden was really coming, and also 50 people was all it took to stop Shiano. I don't think it's the same people.

Seriously... there are a lot of people with money that like TN. The Haslam paychecks can be replaced. If they continue to run the program into the dirt then it will lose support of a more important group of people. Wake up

There were a lot more rhan 50 people that created the noise that made rhe 50 people with power take action. The power is in the people. You can call indirext if you want but it has been proven consistently over time, when the large group of constiuents actually stand-up for itself it generally wins. It is only the foolish and powerful that want to avt like the larger group doesn't have any power. The problem is the larger group of people are rarely motivated or paying attention to what is going on, which allows the select few to dominate.

If people in TN understood what the focus act will result in then it would have been stopped. Nobody was paying attention

You must know the people that are in Haslams pocket then. Do they also agree with Haslam hand picking the entire board right before he walks out the door as Governor? This is shady. The Haslams just re-stablished their control of the University. Don't be surprised for Fulmer and Davenport to be out soon as they have the opportunity.
