Coach Leach contacted Currie 13 days before Jones was fired to let him know he wanted the job.

Coaching fiasco could have been avoided.

With that said, even with his bamer ties and lack of head coaching experience, Coach Pruitt has made all the right moves so far and has brought energy and higher standards to the program.

Unfortunately we said the same about Butch. Cautiously optimistic.

This Jubran joker seems to always be on the wrong side of logic and the best interests of the University.

I thought I read where they didn't even take inputs from the coaching search committee.

These texts don't look good for Davenport either. I'm guessing the fans and Calhoun's knew better there too as David Blackburn was clearly the best choice.

Now we know why Holly hasn't been fired. Beverly is afraid to be in the public eye right now after that fiasco for which we can now confirm, she was a big part of the incompetence.

Other Notes:

Gruden: Smokescreen for his own ratings/self-marketing...most of us already knew this.
Mullen: Was highly interested but Florida was his 1st choice (understandable used to coach there with Urban) even though he was only Florida's #3 choice after Chip and Frost.
Brohm: Never contacted...Really?
Gundy: Played us for yet another raise. He should be a UT donor with all raises we lined up for him!
Not many other coaches apparently contacted.

They're rich boot lickers that enjoy being in the club more than winning games.

Hell you see the same thing in the stands and parking lot's every Saturday, some are content just to be seen at the social.

I hate to make this about politics but I think it is important.

There are probably people on here that know more about Tennessee politics than I do but just some thoughts.

Seems to me the conservative narrative for the last 10 years or so is to mitigate the monetary damage of public education. Divert more funds to private schools and charter schools ect. The Haslam's are conservatives that have not been willing to get big time coaches and spend big money to get them. The idea is to spend less and control the narrative. Mostly because the fan support has and will continue.

Well, until this year and the schiano fiasco.

My question is with the flying j truths exposed and the political power of the Haslam's over the B.O.T will Tennesseans hold the govenor accountable at the polls?

When is the Gov up for reelection?

And she was probably cheap in comparison to other chancellor's.

Governor election is this fall. Haslam is not able to run again, so they are trying to get him a going away present where he can thin out the BoT to remove opposition to the House of Haslam. The Governor alone could make these calls.

while "big money" does control many things, it doesn't control whether fans support that power by attending games, buy merchandise, or provide donations...nope...

GO VOLS!

They wanted to put Schiano in as HC

Do you really think they give a rats ass what the fans think?

More importantly not nearly enough fans would give up a game to make a point.

Agreed jake.
And I have no delusions of Haslam being "out".
But stopping his bill from removing all opposition from the BoT is imperative. He no longer wants majority share and the loudest vote, he's wanting complete dictatorship.

Stopping tbis Bill is HUGELY IMPORTANT FOR UT!!!

He is term limited and cannot be re-elected this go around. He wants to be the next Head of the University, which if he is able to stack the BoT with his people, he will be.

This Bill must be stopped if we want the Haslams out of UT... else we might as well rename the University of Tennessee the Haslam College of Cronyism.

The University of Tennessee belongs to the citizens of Tennessee, not too a finite number of people. Think some reminding is in order here.

The Haslams needs to be put out of the University period. As long as they are running this circus then dont expect much. If Pruitt works out then Tn got lucky. The Haslams dont have the best interest in the University , they just want to be able to control all of it.

Stupid question....but is "Thunder" Thornton still a big influence at UT (great friends with PF). If so, where does he stand in all this?

Check the FOI documents released. When everything with Currie came to a head, he was the one to suggest bringing in Fulmer.
