Boosters calling for Currie to resign

How can he be allowed to make a hire? Typically when an AD is fired his hire for coach doesn’t have long since the next one will usually want his guy. With the perception that Currie is going to get pushed out, the only coaches I can see taking a chance are true up and comers, or previously fired ones. No established coach would even think of taking that chance.

Exactly. Currie is damaged beyond repair IMO. Make the change at AD first, then make the hire. Of course that won't happen. UT never takes the right course of action in situations like this.

Lots of pressure on John Currie to resign today from many big time boosters. Bunch of turmoil in Athletic Department. #Tennessee

Am told there's increasing pressure now from big-money #Vols boosters to force #Tennessee AD John Currie out in the wake of Sunday's news. UT source told me: "This is such a hot mess. Just when you think they’ve gotten out of the ditch. They’ve fallen into a much bigger one.”

Currie can't be removed fast enough:banghead2:

John Currie is the most hated man in Tennessee and there is no way he can survive this, fans need to continue to demand he be removed:rock:

They care about winning, but Jimmy the boy lacks Jim the man's football moxie. Jim Sr played for the 1951 NC team, blocking for his buddy Hank Lauricella, the first Tennessee player to be runner up for the Heisman.

He first joined the UT board in the 70s at a low point in the football program and was instrumental in the Johhny Majors/Fulmer years. Is 86 and inactive now.

As for his boy, look no further than the Cleveland Browns. Just not a football person, and not running Pilot that well either from all appearances.

So the apple has a few worms in it. :wink2:

Thanks. Good to read lucid information on VN. :hi:

And here we are, two days after this was first reported and Currie is still leading the charge. Obviously the rest of our boosters are just total ******* who cannot get anything done.

I'm starting to think Currie knows he isn't going to last long and is trying to hire Dorean to give a big middle finger to the the ATD.....absolute nonsense right now..

Absolutely. I believe you are correct. All that can save us now is uproar and Currie being fired before hire is made

Recall him before he and Bev hire somebody's wide receiver coach to be our head coach.

I'm afraid before he goes he will saddle us with a dud like Doreen with a long term contract and big buyout. Also Davenport is clueless.

I don’t pretend to be an expert in any of this kind of stuff, and I acknowledge that with any big-time hire of this variety there is seldom a single choice that satisfies everyone. However, Currie certainly appears to have been a very bad choice. Also, the selection process, just like the one he is currently “running” for the football coach, looks like it was as messed up as it gets. The fix was in, and there was some very, very bad decision making.

And to top it all off, he still hasn’t been fired. Reports are that they are now speaking with Beilema over all of the other guys out there. Unbelievable.

Have read so many negative threads about the Haslam family, especially recently. Why on earth would any or all of them NOT care about "winning". I'm truly confused. My perception of Jim Haslam Sr. has always been a man of great generosity & character. Has the "apple fallen too far from the tree?" Inquiring minds want to know. :twocents:

FWIW, an employee of another organization in which the Haslams were heavily involved once me that "the other brother" (Bill) was very bright and making his own way (this was in the late 90's), but that Jimmy was "dumber'n dirt" and knew nothing but how to ride his daddy's coat tails.

Again, take it for what it's worth.

I'd like to know how much is Currie's doing. Does he have any power or is higher level admin tying his hands while having Haslam call the shots?

Either way he needs to go, but if the AD has no real decision making power then it'd just be rearranging the deck furniture on the Titanic.
