I was just watching the Belmont-Georgetown game and saw boomer herndon out there. got me to thinking of the dark pre-bruce days of UT basketball :banghead2:[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif][/FONT]

Slick Rick says, Ex Coach Buzz gave Boomer Herndon a scholarship over many good players that went on to Miss State and Ole Miss.

I was at a friends house and i saw in his closet "Buzz Ball: Episdoe II" poster and it had all the players in capes with lightsabers and I almost fell on the floor i was laughing so hard

I played in a pick up game with Boomer this past summer in Nashville. He was a very nice guy but one of my friends who is only 6'4 shut Boomer down. his only points came off of a couple of fast breaks when he was cherry picking downcourt....... I left that night wondering what Buzz saw in him... he is VERY slow and has no hands whatsoever....

BUT, he is a great guy. He had a lot of class and took the beating like a man.

heres a story, one of my friends was playing in a pick-up game with Justin Albercht and Jon Higgins and he said Justin came flying down the floor jumped and did a dunk and the ball clanked off the rim and he completly miss the dunk and he didnt know it and he turned around and started taunting the fans watching it while the other team was doing a lay up on the other side of the court

he only averages 10 pts 5 rbs in the A-Sun conference as a senior. Buzz simply lucked out in taking Lofton. Lofton was going to play at like Miss. Valley State or somewhere until Buzz offered him. I'm sure on that, that Buzz just lucked out.

Since we are talking about ex-vol players from the Buzz era, what happened to John Winchester?

I have played in a pickup game with Boomer Herndon. If he wasn't 7' tall, he would have been one of the worst players on the court.
