Saban was 6-6 in his first year and still built a recruiting powerhouse. Pete Carroll was 6-6 his first year and well, look at USC. I think you are seeing our coaches do the very same thing. Rome wasnt built in a day. I think CLK sent a message to the nation with these 3 commits after a painful loss. We're down,, but far from out.

:peace2: agreed. i was lulled into raising expectations after the WKU game, but we are a year or two away from being exceptional. Coack K has time in my book. Any upset going forward is icing on the cake!

Well I was definitely shocked to get on the board and see three commitments after the game. I was hoping that no one would get cold feet. It definitely was a nice surprise.

6-6 is a lucky number for every rebuilding team. That's what we shoot for this year :)

BTW, whatever said about Lane Kiffin was used to describe Saban 3 years ago. We are on the track of repeating the history

patience my fellow volnatioinites patience

I agree......it'll take a while. Maybe longer than we think. Saban was recruiting to Bama, and Carroll was recruiting to USC. UT is a little harder to recruit to, but CLK and Co. are doing a fabulous job right now. Just support the players we have now, and realize that our time is coming. Think of how much better the wins will be after going through these down seasons!!!

This is exactly what I've been telling myself so I dont go breaking things. Its just heartbreaking cuz the team isnt that bad. They just keep throwing games away with turnovers. But its all good.

I've been telling myself that but i keep looking at our future schedules & the problem that we have on the OL & i still think its going to be a few years before we see Tennessee back on top. Were going to be playing alot of Freshmen & Sophomores on the OL the next 2 year's & with the schedules that we have lined up it sets us up for alot of growing pains. We gotta wait for all these recruits to get experience before we actually start seeing what we can do.

Since his hiring, I've been telling my friends that Kiffin will be a net plus regardless of his success on the field. While I believe he will do well once he gets his players out there, I know he'll continue to recruit at a high level with the staff he has at UT. This means that even if he is fired in 3-4 years for not putting it all together, the cupboards will be full for our next coach. For an example of what I mean, see Ole Miss.

BOOM!!!!! Great point rex. The WKU game got everyone overconfident.

I don't know if overconfidence is the term needed here Matt. I think most people felt like we were in a better position than last year because we actually beat team we were supposed to beat by 50. I'm not sure what term is best suited for what happened. Maybe a little too star struck.

I agree with Rex. In one of my other post I said about how we went 6-6 and won are bowl game and still got a great class, so along as UT has a winning season they will get a top five+ class. People worry to much about the wins but you only need 6-7 not 10.

I love the "a little too star struck" comparison. I admit i was excited too. It has been a lil while since we beat someone like that and was a breath of fresh air. Realistically, if we are within 14 points at the final gun this saturday, it will be a "win" in my book. I expect our boys to fight really hard this weekend. BTW, its great to finally have time to get back on here again. I missed ya guys.

Lane Kiffin will not get fired in 3-4 years. I believe he is here for the long haul. Let him get his players onto the field and it is a whole new situation. Remember, all we need is slightly above average QB play and a QB that doesnt make detrimental mistakes and we win against UCLA last weekend. Unfortunately we do not even have that at this point, but look for Bray to continue to develop as well as this staff picking up a nice commit from LeMay or Bridgewater in 2011. We are well on our way back to prominence in my opinion. Its just going to take some time folks. Remember. We may me down right now but Tennessee is still Tennessee. Do not count us out. We'll be back.
