Boom! Big commit tonight.

You’ve falsely categorized the views held by “most on here.” It’s about the data. “most on here” cite the facts I mentioned above, which are -one more time-no team has won an NC the past dozen seasons with a blue chip % below 50% over the 4 seasons leading up to the NC. That’s not an opinion. As aI stated that may change with the portal etc. The issue that keeps this topic resurfacing is that people like you think their personal feelings or opinions mean more than data. They do not. A combination of arrogance and ignorance keep the topic current when it’s a one time convo with a sentient 8 year old.
Wow, someone is awfully sensitive. Lighten up Francis.

Ive rechecked the data and it’s actually the last 14 years rather than dozen years that no team has won an NC with 4 and 5 star recruiting classes below 50% over the previous 4 recruiting classes before their NC. The only issue keeping this topic alive is the arrogance of those posting their feelings and erroneous opinions. And their lack of impulse control.
Says the guy replying to his own post. Ok bud, you do you. I’ve seen plenty of people on VN talking about recruiting rankings only, not the blue chip ratio. Why you’re taking this so personally and attacking me, no clue, but it’s not a serious topic. Try relaxing a little and don’t stay so puckered.

It’s ironic that you would criticize the manner in which someone admitted to making an error on a topic that continues to exist due to a large % of members being totally incapable of admitting they are wrong about anything. That strongly suggests your not-so-quiet desperation to post something - anything - in response to my correction. So sad and pathetic.. I’m a newbie to this site but have lurked for years. I learned a long time ago that, on the star rating topic and others, there are 2 camps - those who accept established facts, evidence and data as carrying more weight than their own opinions (I’ll call them the Humble Empiricists) and those who think their own, erroneous opinions carry more weight than established facts, evidence and data - (I’ll call these the Arrogant Ignorants). It’s clear which camp you’re in (it’s not the first one, sweetie) and sorry not sorry for stepping on your toes. You should have resisted the impulse to post, but I’m glad you did because I (we) have learned so much about you,

Ummm, nope. You're mistaking the presentation of cold, hard facts as containing any element of emotions. Psychologists have studied people like you for years. They suggest that people who are hurt by facts and evidence may be acting out of their own anger, as some people stick to their beliefs instead of reevaluating them. The truth can be painful, the psychologists go on to say, because it forces self reflection. I’ve clearly stepped on your toes - and the toes of everyone in the Arrogant Ignorants Camp (see below for a full description). You're welcome

So far half your posts on VN have been insulting me over nothing. Great start. By all means, keep going. It amuses me that you’re calling me arrogant while missing your own.

Perhaps you’re right, but most on here don’t look at the class size. They just say we can’t win championships if we don’t get top 5 classes. There’s more to it than that.
The Clemson method wasn’t emulated to anywhere near that level of success by anyone else, and it is virtually impossible to emulate in the era of unlimited transfers.

If a 40% of your class or more are 3 stars and you have one of the worst portal classes of any team in the Power 4 conferences, that isn’t a recipe for success these days.

No doubt times are different now. I’m not sure the measurements you give were ever a recipe for success, if you define success as a national championship.

The teams at the top of the recruiting rankings will be winning the majority of the titles. Every once in a while (15 years or so), some averagely talented school will sneak one in. Don't expect it to be much more often than that. Doesn't follow logic. Or history.

And that’s why you have to keep recruiting your current players to stay and new transfers to come. Whatever you want to call it, the coaches now have to recruit 365 days a year.
Exactly and when you do miss on a HS recruit and maybe you were #2 on their list. When they become unhappy and portal you will definitely be top of their landing spot. Its like you said 365 and you never burn a bridge because the player may fall back to you. You part on well wishes terms.

This. And most likely the average team has one superstar leading them (ex. Cam Newton)
