Booger McFarland Doesn't Tennessee Has a Chance to Win SEC East in 2017

Um, this site.

When someone talks about how awesome we're going to be or that we're going to win the East, it's posted as some proof we're back and the person saying it is praised.

When someone posts that we're not going to win, the person saying it is bashed about 95% of the time.

Um, no one had started that crap yet, congratulations on being "that guy".

Count this as a win for us. He's been among our biggest fan the last two years to win the East. Him giving us no chance in 2017 means we're probably a lock to win it now.

Wait, Booger has? Or you have? Now that I think about it, has anyone ever seen D4H and Booger at the same time? I think yet could be the same person.

Booger should have also said because UT plays at Florida, Georgia, at Bama, and LSU. Bama, LSU, and Georgia are easily the three most talented teams in the SEC. Not making excuses, but it will be tough for UT to win the East.

But come the season, he will pick us to win against UK, USCjr, and probably Georgia... but they have a better chance to win the east...?

I don't believe the Vols will win the East either. That way, if they do, I'll be pleasantly surprised instead of sorely disappointed as we have been the last two seasons. It will be tough sledding to be sure.

Booger McFarland doesn’t think Tennessee has any chance to win SEC East in 2017

"Don’t count Booger McFarland as a believer in Tennessee next season.

The SEC Network analyst said Thursday on the “Cube Show” with Cole Cubelic in Huntsville, Alabama that Tennessee was one of three teams – along with Missouri and Vanderbilt – that he doesn’t believe has a chance to win the SEC East this upcoming season.

“That leaves Florida, Georgia, Kentucky and South Carolina,” McFarland said.

McFarland’s doubts about Tennessee stem from his belief that the Volunteers have too many impact starters to replace this offseason. Quarterback Josh Dobbs, running back Alvin Kamara, defensive end Derek Barnett and cornerback Cam Sutton are among those gone from last season’s team.

Last season, Tennessee finished a disappointing 9-4 and failed to even reach the SEC championship game after it was widely believed the Vols would compete for a national title."

While true, we still bring back a ton of starters such as virtually entire OL/TE except Weisman/Croom, and have a new S&C Coach and incredible 2017 OL recruits. All but 1 WRs return, we lose the best one of course. I'm hopeful that this injury is what held Josh Smith back at WR last year...he wasn't himself for sure. Kelly comes back at RB and between Fils-Aime and Chandler we should be fine on a backup. Incredible QB talent with QD, JG, SJ, and even McBride, but green/inexperienced. I think it is easier to replace a starting QB over starting OTs myself.

Same for Defense: We replace an average CB in Foreman and a great one that we didn't have for 2/3 the season in Sutton, JRM which we didn't have for about 11 games. So in effect we aren't replacing any LBs unless McDowell get's replaced by a better player...not a bad thing. All 4 of our 2-deep safeties and our NB will return. CB's Mosely, Justin Martin and Buchanan, should improve with a better DB Coach and another year of learning. That leave the DL and Vickers is great, so as long as Tuttle/K-Mac comeback full strength from injuries and Alexis Johnson/Picou can step in we have a good 2-deep. We lose 3 very good DEs with DB, Vereen and Lewis was pretty darn good too. But you have to really like the potential of Kongbo, Phillips, D. Taylor and Austin Smith.

Special Teams: we bring back our good PK, superb Punter, Evan Berry on KOs, so we just need to find a couple of PR specialists and could use Josh Smith in a pinch.

All in all, my biggest concerns are CB, RB depth and QB learning curve but I think we can win anywhere from 7-10 regular season games depending on how the intangibles play out.

As far as SCAR and Vandy: we are gonna curb stomp them bad. Mizzou at best could upset one of the 2 teams just mentioned. Kentucky is gonna be a good team but we will spank them...especially with an improved defense. They have a real nice stable of RBs though.

Also, Florida lost about 7-8 starters on Defense (all of them have a legitimate shot at NFL) and Appleby who was slightly better than Del Rio. Florida does have 5 home SEC games next season and if you ask me Jacksonville is also a home game with scalpers factored in. As for Georgia? IDK, depends on how bad Smart is as a coach. They have a ton of recruit talent though.

You should pay more attention. This is the 3rd thread in the past today days of an analysts that has expressed doubt in next years team. And what follows in all 3 is sunshine pumpers bashing the person for sharing their opinion. My point in all of them is why do we bash a person for their opinion? Its senseless.

As for your post, you are trying to hard to hype yourself up with these terms like "massively talented rostet" and "brilliant coaches"....get real. If you were so convinced they were going to bulldoze through the SEC, you would state so and move on about your business, not allowing people to pee in your cherrios. Instead you spend all day telling people how dimb they are for believing what they believe.

Are the guy who called EA the other day and told him he wasnt a true vols fan because he picked the BBall team to lose to games and " no real vols fans would every pick the vols to lose a game no matter what. I pick the vols to win the bracket even if they dont make the tournament?"
A bit emotional there, wouldn't ya' say? 'Don't care for posturing, bamafan. I'm very comfortably retired; not needy for approval, as are you negas who can at least find a few "friends" via mutually negative trash talking amongst legitimate sports fans. Also, no, I'm not the fellow you crudely attempted to identify in your middle-school paragraph above. I must point out it's doubtful that you and that bearded Vol character actually played the game of football...let alone played on a championship team and coached afterward, as have some of us on this site. So, you've gotta' be mystified as to the actual nuts and bolts involved in building a winning program. It seems that all those of us with those experiences are mystified only by the gross ignorance of those (like you) who've failed to recognize the actual collection of talented, driven athletes on team 121; of the current staff's exceptional qualifications and of the actual reason UT wasn't the SEC East champion last season. It most definitely wasn't the fault of poor coaching. No bamafan, it was a ridiculous number of injuries which obliterated not only team 120's roster throughout the entire season...but also the team's chemistry, which was destroyed by the loss of practice and playing time among individuals who were constantly attempting to learn one-another's nuances from one week to the next. I'd say you might wanna' think about all this, but that's probably not an option. Have a snack.

After being one of our biggest cheerleaders in 2015 and 2016, he's definitely jumped off the Vol Train this year with both feet. He's saying stupid ish like he wouldn't be surprised if someone tells him in December that Kentucky won the East. lol.

Highly doubt UK finishes higher than us

If that is the case, man this place (volnation) will be losing it

Do not forget, he thinks South Carolina could win it too!

I mean I get not picking us to win it, and saying maybe third in east, but saying Ky and South Carolina have a chance but we do not !!! :loco:

Kentucky is actually a legitimate team that returns most of their starters. USCe is the team that will falter badly. Tennessee will beat both of them, pounding USCe badly as payback.
