Gus' gets his buyout paid within 30 days I believe if he were to get fired. That's a big reason he has survived as long as he has. The Auburn fanbase cost them that money by trying to fire him a few seasons ago before their athletic department was ready to do so. The AD flirted with other coaches, while ol Gus was still around, didn't end well and Gus killed them with his new contract. His agent protected his client pretty well in that case.People think that you have to pay it in a 1 time lump sum. I don't get into this much. It would be paid over time, plain and simple. When they have Pruitt their in 2021, with a majority of the staff gone, and no assistant worth a rip wants to join a sinking ship, how many people will be at the opener of a possible 3-7 team (if we beat Vandy) vs Bowling Green? Maybe 55,000. Then as the season goes....maybe we finish 6-6 which the sheep will call a better season....as more fans wake up. How much money will the university lose. Then, the new SEC contracts come on next year and each school gets $20 million. And not only that, some of the Boosters are BILLIONAIRES....not millionares. And there are more than the Haslams there. Anyway, sorry to ramble again. Making A move is better business in the long run.
So you saying one of our major boosters is a drug dealer? Any connection to one of our recent ex-players?I love this forum; I never post but thought I should comment... my mom and stepdad recently purchased a house from a billionaire booster that had previously purchased the home for $1.6 million for a meditation retreat for the athletes in east Knoxville. It didn’t pass some sort of inspection due to bathroom capacity but I can guarantee you none of you guys have heard of this booster but he’s a pharmaceutical company owner. Just food for thought. I’m sure the money is there if they wanted it.
I agree , that is to say that I agree that he is perhaps hesitant / still butt hurt about Schiano Show Sunday . I was just throwing another name out there who has a boat load of money that should listen to all of us financial wizards on an internet message board about what they should do with their moneyhe was with haslam in trying to get schiano. doubt he gets involved either
I love how some people think that super-astute businessmen are going to eagerly chip in tens of millions of dollars towards a sinking ship, just because they have money and are Tennessee fans. These guys didn't get where they are by lighting their money on fire.

Super astute businessmen don’t keep a subpar employee on staff just because they don’t want to Pat their severance either. That's not the way buyouts usually work. Buyouts, especially this large, are financed out. That's why we are still paying Butch. If boosters were fronting that money, then we just write a check and be done with him. We need to sign the loan and send him down the road. It's over!
I keep reading from a bazillion different posts, that Tenn needs to Buy out CJP and staff and then finally $pend Big Buck$ and go get a proven top tier Head Coach and spend the big time money for a Big Time Coach. My question is, who is/are the big money Booster($)) that would pay for this bill? Haslam is out, we ran the whole family out 3 years ago.
The AD is facing at least a 50million dollar shortfall this year mostly due to Covid. So where do these funds come from?
Maybe since he has taken hands off on the browns a little bit and seen they are having a good year and all he has to do is write the check he will do the same at TN.
