Why do all you homers have to make it personal? I’ve never seen a forum where if you say something someone else doesn’t like, you can’t just disagree, you have to make it personal. Patheitc.Once again. Heupel wins ballgames to earn his pay.
I'm sorry you hate your salary but being jealous of a successful coach for his is a really poor look.
There‘s a reason why there are so few jobs at top schools that pay big money. They are few and far between. Plus, the new era of NIL and portal transfers make it exponentially more difficult to manage 105 young men. Let’s not make it out to be easier than it is just because top coaches are paid a lot of money.Let’s stop treating these guys like they’re something they’re not. They have a huge support staff and every resource available to keep these young men on track. Let’s not act like the Boo situation just happened out of thin air.
That's old school. I'm reminded of the story Bill Walton told about Coach Wooden telling him to get a haircut. Bill, knowing he was the dominate player in college basketball that year, told the coach he didn't think that was necessary for him to play ball.Give him or one of his inter-circle 24 hours to return the call or he's no longer a member of the team. Not hard.
Well, his team sucked and that’s the excuse the Heistman publicists always used to screw over the TN contenders..
Not just a losing record. They were 2-8. He was responsible for only 9 TDs. 3 passing and 6 rushing. He threw 13 interceptions. He was on the field nearly every play (returned punts and kickoffs, punted and place kicked, and played safety), but that doesn't make you great.Sometimes Google's AI response hits the nail on the head:
"Johnny Majors finished second to Paul Hornung in the 1956 Heisman Trophy race. Hornung, a quarterback/halfback for Notre Dame, won the award despite his team having a losing record. Majors, a star tailback for Tennessee, was the Southeastern Conference Player of the Year and a unanimous All-American, leading the Volunteers to a 10-1 record and a #2 national ranking. The close finish, with Hornung winning by only 72 points, is still debated by some, with many arguing Majors was unjustly overlooked. "
I am part of the "some".
He knew Nico went to Miami and explored the possibility of leaving to go there. That was during the season. He knew there was issues after the playoff game as well.He wasn’t? A different school literally called UT and told them the QB was shopping around. This, after the family had ALREADY flirted with Miami and the head coach again found out, when another coach put him in the loop. This isn’t the 3rd string punter. Let’s not act like Nico and Boo were just some players you could somewhat ignore.
When do you think the coaches became aware that Boo was not participating?
Saban also wanted him. So there is that. About every coach in the country would have taken a chance on the kid. We paid through the nose for him bc the program was in a terrible place at the time. For better or worse it put our program on most kids radar in the country bc of his NIL deal.Interesting point on owning it. Maybe a better way to phrase it would be that Heupel is responsible for the choices and decisions he knowingly makes on the recruiting trail? If things go south, you can't just blame the player. The coach who rolled the dice and signed said player also bears some responsibility. If a kid with no history were to suddenly go off the reservation, I can see giving the coach a pass, but again, Heupel knew what he was getting into with Carter. Bet he also wasn't blind on Nico's pop and family either. Just saying he's accountable for the product he's assembled.
Now my head hurts. Damn lawyers.
Maybe the horse you led to water really would drink if you just offered it more money, counseling, etc.Let’s stop treating these guys like they’re something they’re not. They have a huge support staff and every resource available to keep these young men on track. Let’s not act like the Boo situation just happened out of thin air.
Even Paul Hornung said Majors was more deserving than him.Sometimes Google's AI response hits the nail on the head:

That’s a bigger issue with society at the moment not understanding it’s okay to just agree to disagree and still be friends. Crazy times we live in….Why do all you homers have to make it personal? And? That’s my answer. The Boo situation didn’t just happen out of thin air last week. When did Heupel know Boo was missing team events? I’ve actually been hired to solve problems. I’d never propose a solution without an audit and analysis. That said, I’ve always found that very few problems arise out of thin air.Every time I've asked what you would do, you've spontaneously brought up Heupel's salary.
It is what it is.
Your exact answer was "give me $9M....." which made it personal, not me.And? That’s my answer. The Boo situation didn’t just happen out of thin air last week. Regardless of whether you accept my answer, it doesn’t give you a reason to make it personal. I can get in the mud with the best of em.
There is a contingent on VN, that thinks it would br a great idea to turn over head coaching duties to their second cousin. You know, he that took the Unicoi County peewee team to the championship game 7 years in a row. He’ll coach da Vols for a $100K per year.Once again. Heupel wins ballgames to earn his pay.

Agreed. Hope Carter grows up and gets right and this all works out for both parties.Saban also wanted him. So there is that. About every coach in the country would have taken a chance on the kid. Also Nico would’ve likely been gone earlier if not for the NIL deal. It was known he would not be back after this year. He was going to another program or was going pro.
Have we met? That was a heckuva peewee team run. Saban's got nothing on me. I got 6 rings. I would've gotten 7 but the gumball machine ran out. There is a contingent on VN, that thinks it would br a great idea to turn over head coaching duties to their second cousin. I agree with Johnny. The award should have gone to Jim Brown in 1956.Sometimes Google's AI response hits the nail on the head:
