When people talk about Heisman screw jobs over the last few decades, they always mention Manning, Faulk, or Grossman. Honestly, I think Suh was probably the biggest one of them all. He had the most dominant season a defensive tackle could possibly have. His stat line compared to the defensive lines of the three teams that finished the season ranked in the top three is mind blowing.

Maybe that’s true, but the Basilio accusation was directed at Danny White (circa the addition of a 10% talent fee) while the only evidence presented in this thread were prior to White’s involvement at UT.

Not seeing the connection between the coach being responsible for bringing in a talented recruit with a checkered past and Basilio being accused of creating drama by running with the news? Two totally different subjects...at least to this old mind. Heupel brought this kid in. Yes, he bears some responsibility for the impact on the team. Basilio just put the info out there. I guess some would say if Basilio had kept his mouth shut(like that ever happens), the public drama wouldn't have been so viral, but internally, where it really counts, the situation would still have played out just like it did.

I’m merely trying to figure out why you seem to be blaming Josh for signing Boo. Every coach in the country would have signed him given the chance. You are the one that said Josh needs to “own it”.

Basilio personally told me something in 2006 that he never said on air, and then it became public knowledge a year or two later, so he is capable of keeping some things off air. Haha.

I take “this thread” and any so called evidence with a grain of salt. White has done a great job as AD and Basilio provides solid entertainment to a portion of the fan base. The legions of the miserable will always hate.

Blame doesn't fit IMO. What I'm saying is that Heupel chose to take the chance with Carter knowing the baggage/red flags that were no secret and came along with him. So yeah, he has to own it, deal with it, and accept the controversies, problems and impact within the program caused by Carter's behavior. Heupel made the decision that signing Carter was worth the risk. Hey, it might still work out. People can change.... sometimes.
