I always admired Archie Manning. He had 2 superstars as sons, but he never interfered with their football careers/choices. And I'll take a wild guess that he knew more about football than Boo's mother and Nico's father. I remember Fulmer saying that Archie often fell asleep during their meetings. They should take some lessons from him!

Afterall these men are 18 or older. Men that age are fighting in our armed forces and often have to make more important choices(without mommy and daddy's advice). In addition, they don't have the luxury of a portal to correct their "perceived" bad choices!

I enjoyed the part about Archie on the Manning 30 for 30. Seems like a really humble guy that didn’t want to be a pushy parent, and let the coaches coach and his kids make their own way. I saw this picture when I was looking through the front page of the CBS sports site today. I thought it summed up the Nico package deal UCLA got pretty well. Nico kinda hanging out in the background while the coach and big Nick talk. I’m sure Nick is sticking his nose in there trying to influence things like he tried here.

Tony is just reporting on what he's hearing! You guys shat on him initially for reporting the Boo Carter situation before anybody else which, by the way, turned out to be true! But of course you wont give Tony any credit for that because you would rather guard your personal disdain for the man. This is so stupid, telling someone not to bring Basilio up when he reports on something his sources tell him. Are you really THAT easily offended? Like it or not, Basilio IS a credible source for news inside the program!

Tony deserves no credit. I don’t give a crap if he’s right or wrong on the info. Sharing it does no good for the lockerroom. Let it be handled internally until it has no chance of being worked out then I’m fine with details being shared.

Now I know Basillo is a fan and he has a show a lot of people enjoy. I just have issue with someone that dishes dirt on the program and benefits from it. It’s just sleazy.

Some I swear would rather have a dysfunctional program and know every detail than have a well run program and not know all the drama.

I don't understand it either. I got the Hyams bashing because he would report stuff days after it was being talked about and pretend like he broke the story, but I don't recall a group of people getting so triggered over a sports reporter breaking stories and reporting on a local team. The expense of the program? I highly doubt that. Any program that is significantly affected by what a radio host says isn't much of a program to begin with.

There is a huge difference. 2 of them need to stay in the good graces of the university to continue to have access for the sake of their job. The other one has no boss, it’s completely independent, therefore was able to play loose with information. He has often talked about that’s why he does his own thing.

All of them have their faults and can be annoying. The guys that work for stations, websites, publications dont have the freedom to really run with what they hear until they get the green light, or their access to the program could be compromised. Jimmy had info before he let on, most of the time, but he wasn’t gonna cross the people at UT and risk getting in their bad side. Not should he have. Independent guys are able to things differently and don't have to worry about that stuff, as whoever gives them the info is ok with them running with it. They don’t have a boss ti answer to and are going to do what appeals to their audience. That’s usually why some like the 99.1 folks and some like guys like Tony. I basically like them all and can be annoyed with them all at times.
