Boo Carter rumors from Basilio

We NEVER know much.

We knew little about Nico other than what was reported AND that it didn't go away.

Sometimes we hear that there was an issue and Heupel appears and clears it up straight away with a "we handled that internally" and it goes away.

Heupel didn't clear this up and he could've if there was a clear ass chewing end to it already. That would have made it disappear. He didn't.

Why didn't he just say, "We've got this. It's handled?" I can't say why with certainty but that would've been the best thing for the program and it didn't happen.
Could be it is still a work in progress, that could go either way. POTENTIALLY Boo has been tasked to make it right before X, and it could involve multiple time intensive acts. So it is very possible we are not yet at the end game. May not be light switch simplistic. Non-compliance centric.

Coach may have a preferred timeline IF an exit is his preference. Being allowed on the practice field and being allowed in games are two different things. Taking his schollie vs creating displeasure to a level he will quit are also two different things with probable financial implications. Irrational ill timed responses could have their costs.

As character driven as our staff is it seems like it will be a tough road. But if he meets it, so be it. Don’t see a free pass in the works. But I have no more FACTS than have been shared in here and a few radio shows in the car. Need a validated list to get cocky. Expect some leakage from both sides real soon and continuing till conclusion.

I can tell you’ve never played organized sports considering how easily you are excusing Boo’s behavior for missing workouts while the rest of the team is busting their ass and showing up and doing what is expected of them. Quit making excuses for someone who is likely making more money annually than a significant portion of this fanbase and who is failing to live up to his promises.
Why are you so pissed at him? We don't even know the whole story. Maybe with all that money he thinks he's exempt from these July team meetings. And maybe he is.

I'm coming around to that idea. I don't know the difference between dismissal and him leaving on his own. That may be a piece of this or may not.

The BYU QB apparently was going to be suspended for several games instead of dismissed and that forced him to withdraw and walk on at Tulane instead of getting a "free" transfer because of dismissal.

Perhaps that's the plan UT has: announce a multi game suspension for Boo so he wants to leave and make him walk on elsewhere. If that's the plan, the longer they wait to announce it, the harder it is for Boo to find a spot. Perhaps that's not the plan and dismissal vs withdrawal makes no difference.

Someone here may know, I don't.

You’ve got it.

White & Heupel know the rules. We don’t. Trust them with the way this is being handled.

So he should be kicked off the team for missing "activities." Not a game, not practice. And we don't know his reason for missing or any details. Like I said, if that's all this is, give him his ass chewing, suspend him the first game if necessary, and we move on. You don't kick one of your best players off the team for missing "activities." We've had kids engage in criminal activity and keep their spot.
You remember when Boo was flirting with Colorado and got a raise? Well guess what? Team activities are part of the job. If everyone else can make these same activities then Boo has no excuse for missing them.

Boo is a really good player. He deserves special treatment. Just try and pretend like we held him accountable. But most if all we need him on the team and need him on defense. We can't run off every player who steps out of line. We already lost Jakobe Thomas to Miami. Let's keep what we have. We already did our part by standing up to Nico.

Hahahahahah, yeah okay. You are absolutely naive if you believe Heupel picks certain players that he likes more and excuses them from team meetings because they make more money while everyone else is expected to attend or be punished. Again, none of this is getting reported in the news if these are excused absences. If that was the case, it’s a non-story and it’s not being talked about.

Good way to lose the entire locker room. You’ll lose more game with one entitled really talented player and the rest of the locker room divided than you will without that player and with a united lockerroom

I agree but once again we're talking about allegedly missing team meetings. You think he should be kicked off the team for missing team meetings?
I think it is more than team meetings it was workouts that all of his teammates did to prepare themselves for the upcoming season. So you think it is fair his teammates spent their summer working out and preparing for the season while Boo spent his time on the California coast??

I agree we need to let CJH but don’t downplay what his actions must has done to the team chemistry.

Agreed if it was a non story CJH would have addressed by now.

Coaches always have to weigh the pros and cons when dealing with players like this. Fulmer and Majors had their fair share of talented players that were difficult. Some were dismissed while others were tolerated. Winning games is the ultimate goal. Hopefully this situation gets resolved and the team is ready for a great upcoming season.

In the long game, I strongly disagree. You build a culture that demands respect for the team even if it means letting guys like Nico and Boo leave.

Will it hurt our season? Almost certainly, IMO. Losing Nico and Boo isn't at all how I'd wanted this year to go.

Overall, Heupel gained universal respect for not caving to Nico over money and I believe, if this issue is related to a player respecting the work and his teammates, Heupel will gain respect for this also.

It's not about this year, it's about this team in the following years.

You just don’t like him and always a negative Nancy and that’s me trying to use nice words. If he kicks him off or keeps him, you will have a negative take on who’s been the best coach we’ve had in decades. You are the one whose posts suck. Trying to not get a freak email here.

We talking about practice. Not a game. We talking about practice. Not the game that Boo goes out there and dies for and plays every game like it's his last. Not the game. We talking about practice, man.

LOL, yeah that’ll show the team.

The hell with everybody else as long as Boo is happy.

Some of you guys should hear yourself right now. 😂

Team will forgive some idiocy but it has its limits. Also depends on how invested they think a guy was before he lost his way.
