Boo Carter rumors from Basilio

Historically, VN disagrees about rumors and gossip and so does most of the sports, politics, and business world.

Besides that, the young athletes know that we're a bunch of old fans who have 40 times they could beat running backward. We're not their target audience unless you're following their Instagram, X, Snapchat, or whatever they use and they, if my kids and grandkids are any indication, find us completely out of touch with their stresses and concerns and largely unable to understand the slang and butchered English social media tends to contain when young folks use it.

You give us and yourself too much gravitas in these kid's lives. When have you EVER heard a rumor or fact that a player saw crap on social media from fans and decided to leave, stay, or whatever?

I've heard of PARENTS getting on social media and mixing it up but I'm seriously doubtful players are any different than my younger family members who look at me and my posts like "Pops, did you take your Metamucil last night? You seem a little irritable today......"
If players do actually read this message board crap then they would be laughing their butts off at some of the ridiculous stuff posted on here.

Congress is way more concerned with the appearance of doing something than actually doing anything difficult. I don't think Congress is the answer to any of this unfortunately. I think Kavanaugh's Supreme Court Opinion where he compared limiting a player's NIL to "wage-fixing" and said you absolutely can't do it, opened Pandora's Jar and there's no getting the lid back on. While legally, it's obviously sound, the complications to "amateur" sports are readily apparent now as the teams with the biggest payrolls are destined to dominate the sport. Fans are already losing interest. I keep up with other fan bases and had been watching Auburn's boards. There was some activity around when their AD and coach came out and said everyone but them was cheating but it died down pretty quickly and there's far less traffic on their boards than there normally is. Fan bases will lose interest. They will stop buying tickets, merchandise, and tuning into watch period in many cases. Many fans of these teams of have nots have no other team they care about following.
If President Trump did anything with his executive order (and I'm not a fan of any POTUS using those as a rule,) he sent a message to Congress that this is a mess and they should address it.

I'm not sure whether it's easy or difficult to fix legally because that's way out of my skill set but Kavenaugh pointed directly to Congress to fix it, so I suspect there are legal folks out there with ideas that have been growing since Alston. The hard part is getting cat herd that is Congress to listen to decent legal minds and agree on a direction.

As for fans, I'm not fishing in the Fall after the first hard frost and while I used to sit in an ice cold stand for hours, I'm under orders not to climb much. Basically, if I'm not watching football or basketball, I'm pretty certain my wife will find all kinds of things I can clean, fix, or do and even worse, go shopping with her. I'm old but for working guys kicking back with a cold one or 12 on Saturday while watching the game is a reward for making it another week.

That's why the NCAA has avoided employee status.

It will actually lead to the end of the student portion of college football. Legally, it will be extremely difficult to argue an employee can only work for 5 years as an athlete when they clearly can still play. It will be difficult to stop schools from hiring 35yo ex NFL players once the 5 years of eligibility disappears.

I'm not saying it's not the future but I'm saying that won't look much like college athletics.
That would have me out. It’s just minor leagues once 35 year old ex NFL guys play.

Knew Heupel would cave.😎
You just don’t like him and always a negative Nancy and that’s me trying to use nice words. If he kicks him off or keeps him, you will have a negative take on who’s been the best coach we’ve had in decades. You are the one whose posts suck. Trying to not get a freak email here.

Can Boo even play for Colorado this year? The portal is closed. We’re 4 weeks from the season starting. I highly doubt Heupel would sign off on releasing him and allowing him to transfer and play immediately. Just so short-sighted of a decision kids make. Seems dumb to sit for an entire year and lose valuable development time.
There are certain things I WANT to say, but will not because, you know. It should be obvious .

So, if Boo is at practice, should we assume nothing happened, something happened but it wasn't as TB said, everything happened as TB said but Boo got back in good with the team, or that we're all glad the off-season is over?

Can we get a drinking game together with every time Heupel coughs/clears his throat or says "culture" in the pressers after practices?

We'll need some kind of entertainment after this winds down.

I didn’t say there was a culture issue. Im saying there could be an issue if he comes back after everything that happened if the reports are true.
I am a huge Heupel fan but IF there is an issue this season involving this, it lies directly at the feet of the head coach.

I sure hope he plays for Tennessee this fall. I mean, it's not a bad idea for him to go to Colorado to be coached by Deion. It's just a bad idea right now with the transfer portal being closed for the season. He's penciled into so many roles for Tennessee this season: defense, returning kicks, slot receiver, that he's set to get so much TV exposure per game that it would make Teddy Valentine jealous. I hope he plays this season, showcases his talent, kicks some Bulldog, Tide & Gator ass, and then reevaluates after the end of the season whether or not he should stay at Tennessee, transfer to Colorado, or declare for the NFL draft.

could the football staff, coaches, players, bloggers, journalists, youtubers and fans stop being so dramatic? Could they stop running to the microphones every time they hear a juicy rumor or get mad at somebody?

How do we know that Boo didn't have a private personal situation arise that required him to take some time away? This happens a lot every year but do players get accused of gang activity every time a grandma dies or they go through a rough breakup?

The baseless rumors that have been circulating and digging up stuff from when this guy was in highschool is completely unacceptable. There is enough drama in this sport these days without people outside that building adding a healthy dose of rat poison to the mix. Tony Basilio is a piece of ****.

It's been proven in the past that players do look at these threads. I'm sure this escapes you, but we are talking about 18-22 year old kids that live on social media. So seeing their name dragged through the mud does have an adverse effect. It also means oftentimes coaches have to talk them, their parents, and others off a ledge. If you had ever played competitive sports at a high level, you would know the importance of keeping team related news in house. Besides that, rumors and gossip are generally for little old ladies.
Well you're here gossiping just like the rest of the " little old ladies" it seems ..

Yeah, probably, all I know is that I never said anything being a lack of accountability or a culture issue so I’m not sure what the poster was talking about. All I was saying is that if the events reported really happened and Boo comes back, there absolutely is risk of a locker room issue, especially if many on the team didnt want him back as is being reported.

There was always a path for Boo, it was just up to Boo.
I would bet that if there is a path it is narrow and with very little latitude. Length TBD.

Just let Coach handle this. Instant gratification can be costly and other timelines can be much more effective and fulfilling for the program.

These violent reactions to every data drop are embarrassing. Especially with the unverified nature of the majority of them.

"Violent reactions" ????? Hyperbole much?

So the ranks of game broadcasters aren't filled with a bunch of hacks???

🤣

Oh, no doubt, maybe the worst kind - especially the primary national announcing teams.

But unless you're not gonna watch the games or watch them on mute, you're kind of stuck there.
