Boo Carter rumors from Basilio

Gonna be a lot of people with egg on their face in this thread not believing Basillio sharing this news
Yeah. This forum needs to learn what the **** patience is. I get it, Basilio is hardly trustworthy (I always take what he says with a shovel full of salt), but jumping on people who report these things and treating them like trolls is never the answer.

Now that CBS is reporting on this, it’s pretty much undeniable that this rumor is probably true. So I wonder how the people who acted like this was some impossibility will react-oh who am I kidding they’ll just double down and insist they’re still right anyway

Nah, I think I saw what I saw. If it was that easy that's what he should have done. Not take an anonymous poster's comments over the weekend on a pay site and created a story out of it like it was his own. That screams snake oil salesman.
You are spinning a narrative that’s not accurate.

I'm still waiting for more to come out before I start name calling and hand wringing. If all he did was miss some meetings/practice because he was on a family trip and didn't get approval first thats a slap on the wrist. He's a kid. If he is at the first practice this is all probably a nothingburger. The people saying he's a "thug" and we should just go ahead and kick him off the team sound foolish.

Yeah.. no

That argument is no longer an excuse.

He’s an legal adult and an employee making big money.

It’s his responsibility to follow protocols with the team.

Tell everyone you never played sports without telling them

You seem very angry about Basilio being right. You have no clue what sources he vetted his story…
This is far from the first time Tony has been right or mostly right coming out of the gate. Yet, people beat up on him all the time as if he’s always wrong. I’ve also heard him go hat in hand and say he missed when he has missed, so at least he owns it.

Yeah, I’m kinda over the whole “they’re just kids” defenses of stuff like this. As somebody who’s fairly young, I know full well how big of an idiot I used to be….. but if I did something stupid, I dealt with the consequences, even despite the fact I was young and stupid.

I won’t feel any sympathy for Boo if he gets removed from the team. Just as much as I refused to join a mob mentality against him before more details came out.

I did actually. But this is big time sports now with money involved. If we're gonna treat it like NFL then some players might feel like certain meetings are optional. NFL Stars don't often attend mini camps
the NFL Stars who don’t attend mini camps are typically vets (example: Derrick Henry). Even if we applied this logic to the situation….. Boo is only a sophomore, who certainly has elite talent, but he’s hardly a big enough star presence to justify missing practices.

He didn't miss practice. It hasn't started yet. That's kind of my point

Just about anytime a media member has had bad news to report like this about the Vols, it is true. Like 95% of the time. And yet some people act like the inverse is true. Very culty

He's not an employee. If he were, he'd be in contact with the player's union rep about the fines he's getting for missing meetings and such. He'd be under contract to play ball, not sham NIL contracts.

"I won't follow college football if it's pro ball" but that's what it takes to settle these things smoothly.

As we're seeing with Jennings, both sides are trying to work things out because there are actual contracts to play ball instead of sham contracts for NIL.

It's the downside of "pro ball will ruin college ball" when college ball is ruining college ball.

I agree that when you want to get paid well, there are certain expectations that come with it. Showing up to these events is part of that expectation. But while these events are expected, technically none of them are "mandatory", since fall camp doesn't start for another week.
