Boo Carter rumors from Basilio

He can't transfer somewhere and play this year. The portal doesn't open back up until after the regular season.

but he can still transfer OUT of UT.

two recent players who have transferred out:

Aidan McGowan at Arkansas
Jayden Anderson at Virginia Tech.

Transferring out of a school happens all the time...

Damarius McGhee transferred out of Kansas on July 2nd and committed to Florida Atlantic on July 18th. We will see if he plays this year or not.

Transferring isn’t wise at this point. We are a week from camp. He can’t get out of Tennessee and into another school that fast. Would be way behind in learning a scheme.

On top of that I’d venture to say NIL at most big programs is almost totally allocated for this year. He’d take a massive hit there.

He’d have to quit the team and walk on because the portal window isn’t open.

If you’re going to misbehave, this isn’t the time of the year that you can dodge discipline with the threat of walking.

I wouldn't put any stock into what Basilio said seeing as though he pulled his 'sources' from a message board post. Here's where Hubbs stands
If you know how Hubbs operates, that’s as close as he is going to get to confirming a developing story. Posting where Hubbs stands on this hurts your case if you want to say it’s BS

no no jpj has attitude issues he'll never get drafted😆
JPJ was a top 10 talent who fell to the end of the first, costing himself millions. The NFL teams who came out and said there were character issues were not basing it off of message board posts or Tony Basilio.

I know a girl who had to transfer out of high school because of his harassment of her. Great athlete but not someone you want around your daughter.
BINGO! I've wondered why I've never saw this on volnation. I'm going to take it a step further and say this. At some point you have to look at character off the field. Coach knew, he chose to bring him on the team. We're not talking about one situation here. Coach knew what he was getting and turned his head. The fault is on him and him alone. Students in Knoxville have heard about these problems. What message does it send them?! If your talent is such on the field, we can ignore off field problems. My husband and I both predicted he wouldn't finish in Tennessee. I still believe that to be true.

Didn’t they have a rumor that Pearce wasn’t going to play at UT last year as well? I’ll wait on more official results before panic..
I don't think there was a rumor that he wasn't going to play last year, but concerns about his attitude/maturity pushed him to the end of the first round.

Supposedly he was something of a hothead and would leave practices, not show up for meetings, wasn't well-liked by teammates, and just generally was a malcontent. Had a long leash because he was really good. Have also heard that his lack of snaps in certain games wasn't because they were "keeping him fresh." Once those rumors came out before the draft, it made more sense why he was almost never made available to the media by the coaching staff despite being one of our best players.

When you have a kid that had issues in high school then makes demands after his freshman year in college while receiving tens of thousands of dollars in NIL money, what could go wrong? Most character issues are developed during your adolescent years so if you think they just go away as a young adult you’re wrong. He wanted offensive opportunities and more money just after his first year and got what he wanted. I doubt he’s going to listen to anyone and will be a continued distraction. JMO.

Just a small, psychologically technical disagreement: most character issues--especially with boys--develop between the ages of 2 and 6.

That makes it VERY challenging for young mothers who don't yet have the maturity, life experiences, and intentionality for successful parenting... and just as challenging for grandparents who are wired to have a different, less demanding, relationship with their grandchildren.

In later years, coaches can become that needed, demanding, father-figure. But it's too late to change what got hardwired into that pre-school brain. Those boys have to learn to fight that battle moment-to-moment. That's why the two most successful options are either religious conversion (a spiritual re-orienting that focuses on pleasing God and serving others) or the military.

The military's rules and disciplines, and defined mission, can replace that missing inner compass from childhood that normally learns to weigh decisions in terms of how it will effect others, or how it will effect their future self.

Not very responsible for Basilio to be generating drama around a player when there aint none.

Stuff like this is handled internally on every football team every single year. Its not news worthy unless he walks or gets suspended. Most sports journalists have the good sense to not publicize stuff like this.

We’ve been lucky under Heupel to have very little off the field drama compared with most other sec schools.

😂 Basillo isn’t a journalist.
