Boo Carter officially off the team

with the team leadership council not wanting him back at the beginning of the season, I feel he was poison and detrimental to the team chemistry. Such a talented young man, its a shame he couldn't get away from the negative impact of his mom and home life. He had everything available to him at UT for complete success. Such a shame and waste of talent. His mother is now posting what a great teammate he was and will do well at his next stop. Good luck.

My memory must be failing me. I recall he had conflicts with some team members but I thought Josh brought the Leadership Council into the discussion and they agreed to let him come back with stipulations. Did I miss something?

Hate to see it. Unfortunately, it’s a common story and there usually isn’t a greener pasture for these guys. Best thing would probably be for him to transfer far from home.

I thought the leadership council voted to let him back on the team. Heupel would not have made that decision on his own. That's why you have a council in the first place

Oh, the kid that was always three yards behind the guy he was supposed to be covering? What a loss.

Side bar - expect more of this from perceived “star players” after the third loss of any team. No playoff means no reason to keep playing and risk serious injury.

Never understand what's in a 19 yr old kids mind when he's giving up on a chance to reach the top at something u work so hard for. Football was important to u boo and someone n ur head making money the top priority when if u would have starred at ur home state university for 2 more years the money would rolled in. Feel sad for these kids these days

Pray for him. Ol’ Scratch has him distracted.

Riches are the byproduct of success, not its full measure.

Sanders likes him some 2-way players. Will probably tell him he's the next Hunter at Colorado. They can't go anywhere but up at this point
Travis Hunter is a man with great character and skill and takes in coaching.

Boo just has raw talent. He isn't 10% of what Hunter is. He doesn't have the traits and proved it this year. Hunter would have never did what Boo did never.

I didn't say that. I said Sanders will probably say that as a sales pitch.

You know thats not true. He did the same thing in high school.

Hope the youngsta figures it out. All the name calling in this thread is uncalled for imo.

wish him well! he's a kid hope he gets it together, now focus on Florida and Vandy
Yep, I knew he did something similar in high school to get out of playing his Sr year (should have been a red flag to the staff), but I was taking the high road.
Thanks to my brothers and sisters on here that are able to do that as well...wish the kid well and move on.

There’s rumors that boo evidently got beat up pretty bad by a defensive lineman for skipping those workouts. Evidently Boo was threatening to shoot them. I don’t know this personally, it’s just something I’ve read from multiple people that work at the hive in knoxville where some of our offensive linemen frequent

Where do people come up with this? Leadership council elected to allow him back.

HIs mom and his character issues will follow him wherever he goes and other schools know that. I don't see their being a rush to sign him but may be wrong. Talent makes you blind. Colorado and Sanders may be his best choice.

I think this is a case where multiple things can be true, but completely opposite.

1. I think Boo has received bad advice and been influenced by people with poor judgement all his life.

2. He is talented enough, that people have put up with the sideshow to have said talents on their team.

3. The coaching staff saw case 1, and wanted to help him fulfill his potential and grow.

4. In this instance 1 > 3 to the point that 2 didn’t matter anymore. You can only do so much. I have a feeling that someone will take a chance on him, maybe not at the level the people influencing him think. It will be a rinse and repeat situation, ultimately with him falling short of reaching the level he could make. The higher the level, the less they are going to put up with, because there are multiple butts ready to fill that seat that are less drama and headache.

I wish him well, and I hope someday he chooses to listen to the right influencers.

Latest news from a to z

“I’ve been doing everything I could,” added Carter. “I told him (Heupel) I was hurt. He wanted me to play hurt throughout the whole season. I don’t know, how he’s putting it is making it sound like the stuff that happened in fall camp still [has an impact in November].”

Heupel was asked on Monday if Carter should’ve been listed on any SEC injury reports this season (Carter hadn’t been listed on recent reports).

“No sir,” replied Heupel. “Not based on our trainers.”
