Glad he is back but he will be the first to sign up to transfer when the season is over. I hope we never mention his name about any transfer news but I’d bet the farm that we do. Go Vols!! Keep working hard and keep doing the right things all the time!!

When I was Boos age I puked on a girl at a party and almost got my ass whipped and 2 hours later arrested for PD while putting my arm down a container of pickled boiled eggs and swishing it around at a market on Chapman hwy with KPD standing behind me.
Past is past. Move on. Never puked again and stayed away from containers of pickled eggs at 1 AM. Live and learn.

Ummm…TMI, brother.

Exactly. He’s an idiot but most kids at that age are. Really for the most part when you’re that age you’re getting guided through by those around you and you just have to hope they have your best interests in mind. This crap has happened so many times in the past also but there wasn’t as much coverage back then so it got dealt with internally
Also according to some in the other thread the "he's a dumb kid" can't be used anymore because he's being paid. As if that somehow helps these kid's decision making.

Unfortunately money doesn’t make our decision making any better. The money these kids are getting will raise expectations by the fans. Kids are getting paid like professional athletes; they should have some measure of increased accountability.

People got to understand expectations don’t equal reality.

Right. I don’t expect money to help them make better decisions, I just expect them being paid to bring along increased accountability. As you said, it also brings higher expectations, which doesn’t guarantee they will be met.

Yeah but that’s a far cry from being a “thug”

I’m not addressing this to you but we’ve gotten to a point in this country where we label ppl as the worst of the worst when they annoy us.

Boo not taking care of business and creating needless drama is annoying but doesn’t make him a “thug” it made him annoying. That’s it. But now it’s fixed.
An annoying teen? What a rarity. Hope he has a great season.

give me half a mil when i was that young and id be dead
Yeah, everyone is different. I was pretty vanilla I guessed. Never got into drinking or anything but the opportunity to make money always motivated me at that age. I think the prospect of turning that into 20 million Im a couple years would be the motivation I need to buckle down. IDK though. Easy for me to say that.

I mean it pisses me off to see a kid waste his chance. Idk that it’s any more of a “chance” than it was before. Kids were given free room and board and a chance at a degree that could change their whole life. Money is only real change in the equation and sure it comes with increased opportunities but i think the predators and perils it has brought into a lot of these young athletes orbits also needs to be thought of.

What I’m saying in short is maybe we’re expecting better decision making but with all the distractions and predatory bad actors that come with wealth (some of them family) should we really expect better decisions out of these kids?

For many of them, it’s about the people around them wanting to use them and giving them bad advice for their own gain. That’s the part I feel so bad about for them. Imagine being 19 and having all these people whom you love taking advantage of you and putting a burden on you to help them. Im not saying that’s the case for Boo, but it’s the case for many.

I did too, but if I was getting over half a million to be devoted to my team, I’d probably have done less dumb stuff
I get that. But the money doesn't suddenly make him older and more mature. He's still 19 years-old. This could be a character building event in his life. I'm rooting for him.

I hope he succeeds here. If we’re dealing with any more bs with him in the offseason next year though I’m good with letting him go as well.

Kid is an elite talent. Just needs to mature as a person hopefully here.

Saying he was foolish and calling him a thug aren't the same.
Man…
Aaron Hernandez killed people and won a National Championship at Florida. Was a gang member while in the NFL.

Adam Jones- it took his friend and college/NFL teammate Chris Henry dying and then himself deciding to be a father for little Chris - for him to finally change.

Just look at some of the people surrounding Boo. I’m not going to mention any names.

What he did was selfish. And the gang stuff very well may be true. HE WOULDNT BE THE FIRST- is what I’m saying. And yet- he still has people in his life that care enough about him to try and keep him on a path to success in life.

So instead of calling fans stupid.

Let’s praise Heupel and his work to continue to build successful young men in the world!

You're comparing a cold blooded murderer in Aaron Hernandez to someone who missed a couple workouts or meetings?

That did seem a little off the rails. LV may not have been “comparing” but there certainly was an analogy being drawn.

Oops: ai sez: While both comparison and analogy involve finding similarities between things, comparison is a broader term referring to the act of examining two or more items to identify their likenesses and differences, whereas analogy is a specific type of comparison that highlights shared characteristics between two dissimilar things to explain or illustrate a point. In essence, all analogies are comparisons, but not all comparisons are analogies

Absolutely, I am just speaking in terms of how it would have motivated me to stay in line. A lot to lose.

Large amounts of money are an amplifier. If you are a generous person, it makes you more generous. If you are productive, it makes you more productive. If you are reckless, it makes you more reckless. But there are always exceptions, especially if you can put a good structure around a young man.
