Bone declaring for NBA draft

It's possible that Fleschman could contribute a few minutes at the 2. He wasn't a chump playing high school ball in a big city.

Jancek could even get some goon minutes if Grant, Walker, and Kent join Alexander and Admiral as departures.

Neither of those guys are likely SEC regulars, but they sure can be role players. Especially if they've improved their games since high school.

You are so far out there on your assumptions that I don’t think you need to be saying “yikes” to anyone.

If this program goes into next season without Schofield and Alexander (given) and also Bone and Williams, those are four starters and the bulk of production. There is no way the program won’t take a step back.

Without those 4, for sure. But the world is not falling like some are acting like if our losses are Kyle, Admiral, and Bone. We are a good program with more depth than what Barnes walked into. He is replacing departures with better talent than what he was when he stepped into this job. If our only losses are Bone, Admiral, and Kyle, we will be fine. Will we go for a school record for wins? Prolly not, but we aren't going to be scrapping for an 11 seed play in game or 8-9 seed in the tourney. I will say this until it is definite, but if our only losses are Admiral and Kyle, our team will be better with the addition of James and Burns coming into the fold. Bowden is mighty capable of replacing Admiral's scoring and James should be able to be decent coming out in his freshmen year. Grant is the one player that keeps this program staying level/moving forward.

But the discussion about losing Bone acting like the world is falling on UT and we are on the verge of down times is complete hogwash.

We will cross the Grant bridge when we come to it and so far, we haven't come to it yet.

Losing Grant equals complete rebuild. Losing Bone does not.

"— Collegiate players will now be able to participate in the NBA Draft, yet return to school if they are undrafted. Previously, players could declare for the draft, and attend the NBA Scouting Combine, but had to withdraw their name from the draft no more than 10 days after the combine to retain eligibility."

What if you hire an agent?

I honesty think people are way underestimating how rare it was that we had quality players here for multiple years. A 3 or 4 star player, who spends 3 or 4 years in your system, is hard to replace. I don't care how highly touted the next big freshmen might be. We had a rare (in today's game) combination of high level players that didn't bolt after one year.

You can have a relationship and work with an agent now. They can pay for meals and travel. You just can't accept cash and merchandise from the agent.

Okay. With that clarification, fair enough. But, I think we all know GW will at least declare to see where he stands.

Amazing player and person. I really think it’d be better for him in the long run to come back. If he, Williams, and others were all back next season (along with a couple of really talented newcomers) we’d be all but guaranteed another exciting season ranked high and playing in prime time games. For a guy that doesn’t have amazing measurables the best thing you have is lots of exposure.

Sorry but link please

Sure but I think it is safe to say that the story won't be "Grant declares for the Draft with the intention of staying in" like it was with Bone.

Anybody with memories of the meh attitude towards Bone’s commitment? Think we’d be burning furniture? 😉

I don't understand this. But on the bright side, we do have a 5 star guard coming in.

There really is no bright side for anyone but him and his family.

Tennessee was already losing Admiral and Alexander.......now Bone and maybe Grant.

Tennessee finished the season with 6 key players and one quality help. They very well could be down 4 of those 6, while right now only adding 2.

This is BAD news for Tennessee basketball and fans.

But, you have to agree that he is more likely to stay in the draft than Bone.

Oh give me a break. This is what happens with good programs. Bone leaving early gives us an unexpected opening to fill. Either by new recruit or grad transfer. This is a much better situation than what Barnes walked into...

Leave that sky is falling hogwash somewhere else.

Thanks to Jordan Bone for his time at UT and I think Turner is the starting point guard next season with James as his backup.

No. I think Grant is more likely to return because he is in a weird spot. He needs to come back and work on his jumper. That will benefit him greatly while getting stronger. Bone is quick enough and has a decent mid range game where he can develop in the league. His speed is his biggest asset to be drafted.

Stupid. Why do you think walk-ons are on rosters? Did you forget that both Campbell and Woodson played meaningful minutes in close games?

When? When we sucked the first two years? When was the last time a walk on got more than five minutes in a conference game at UT? And Skylar McBee doesn’t count.

Walk ons are there for scout purposes and bodies in practice, be positive on team chemistry, help the team GPA, and maybe film room purposes.

I don’t see that at all, but time will tell.

Bone isn’t getting listed on any mock drafts. And, if you aren’t projected in the first round, you are crazy to stay in the draft. Undrafted, even crazier. This isn’t the NFL.

At least Williams is shown in the first round in some mock drafts.

Not sure in that. It sounds like Bone just needs to hear he's going tone drafted at all and grant likely wants to be told he's going in the first round to stay in. I'm not sold either is a Lock

Why come back and work on your jumper in college when you can go the pros and do that full time? Most teams don’t even care about a big’s three point shooting in college, they look at FT percentage to see if you have good touch
