I’ve said it for years. Bomani Jones is the best personality in sports. No one is more intelligent and thoughtful than he is. He understands why Schiano wasn’t the right guy. Listen as he tells it like it is about the Tennessee job on his national radio show:

Podcenter - ESPN

GO VOLS!

He was one of the only national personalities objectively discussing Sunday's ongoing situation and Tennessee as a program.

People were trying to compare Tennessee to Nebraska, and was like "Nope." Then Bomani directly compared Tennessee to Oklahoma, which I actually agree with. He had all of his stats and facts straight and just rolled them out there.

I was actually impressed.

So many notes. He spent over a good hour discussing us.

- What he did at Rutgers wasn’t that impressive

- He was too similar to what Butch Jones was

- he questioned the value of a super experienced coach and mentioned the success Oklahoma has historically had with guys with no prior HC experience.

- mentioned that this is the third best job in the SEC east (not among, vacant jobs, but the whole of the East.)

- offered a great point that UT fans shouldn’t have to settle

Much, much more. Listen to hour 1 of the show as well. Hour 2 is great too as he talks about Talib snatching Crabtree’s chain.

Hour 3 of the podcast on the app is titled "all jokes aside, the Tennessee job is actually a good job"

Bomani usually provides viewpoint that is much more thoughtful and nuanced than others in his line of work. Guys like cowherd and others could learn a thing or two.

This is 100% worth listening to if you are a disgruntled UT fan (read UT fan). Literally just the polar opposite of Herbstreit's asinine "Do Tennessee fans know what their record is over the past 10 years???" bulls***. Bomani clearly understands the nuances of constructing a successful football program in the SEC and the reality that despite our criminally incompetent athletic department Tennessee football is one good hire away from national relevance.

This guy gained a fan. Most well spoken and reasonable media guy at ESPN I've ever heard.

Bomani is a Texas fan, so I suppose he knows what it’s like to struggle a bit over the past 6 years.
