Bolden and McCoy out for Outback bowl

......this is getting silly.

then again...at least they didn't get caught cheating.

Miami goes into Signing Day on a four game losing streak. Let's see how they do. Notre Dame had three whole wins. Let's see what kind of class they snare. Oklahoma suffered one of the most embarrassing losses in their program's history in their bowl last season. That really killed them on Signing Day and had an awful carryover into this season.

Just don't count the ones out of Catholic high schools. Many of those kids would go to ND if they had Dukes record every year.

O'Neal, Kemp and Donald don't bother me.

It's Rico and Bolden that will hurt. Everyone knows Wisconsin is going to run the ball, and those are two guys who are pretty good at stopping that.

It only takes passing 6 hrs to be eligible to play. These guys have all the help they can ask for and still can't pass two classes.

Are the Vols the only team that enforces NCAA penalties or are no athletes from other teams having to sit out postseason for this type of offense? To read CBS and ESPN you'd think UT is the only university with this problem in the postseason.

the BCS team gets the lion's share of the money for that bowl game. Then it's divvied up. It's not given out evenly.

they are always talking about on the radio how its unfair that Ms State gets the same amount of money as Florida if Florida wins the NC

It is now six who can't qualify to play in the Outback. What in the H**L is wrong with these kids? This kind of childish and irresponsible stupidity makes me sick. :banghead2:

Afterall, it isn't like their course loads consisting of; thermodynamics, calculus, nuclear physics or even algebra. In like manner, it isn't like they are carrying a normal course load of 14-18 credit hours.

How many of these kids and other athletes like them everywhere are taking real courses and how many are taking courses like; mustard seed counting, music appreciation, elementary checkers and analytical mumbly-peg.

Makes me wonder how many athletes should have actually been allowed to graduate from high school much less to be even considered for admission to any respectable university.

I personally think student-athletes should be students first. I would like to see the NCAA require all student athletes to maintain at least a "C" average in all their courses with normal course loads. If they are to continue on scholarship they have to toe the mark. If they don't maintain that "C" average, they lose their free scholarship and right to play college sports.

The single most important purpose for universities and colleges is to educate and not just to provide a new venue to permit post high school kids to continue playing games (a.k.a., sports) rather than having to get out into the real world and make a living.

AD NAUSEUM!!!!!!!!

I can understand somebody like Donald having issues. Some freshmen just aren't ready and have a rough time at first. The older guys have no excuse though.

Why suspend these players for the bowl game? Just suspend them the first game of next season against some creampuff team.

They are academically ineligible. This isn't a problem with team rules it's a problem meeting NCAA requirements. If they play a single down in the bowl game we would get slapped with a penalty for playing ineligible players.

Also, what would that say about UT's discipline if they suspensions were held to the next bad team UT that played?

Nope. The schools playing bowls are reimbursed for direct expenses incurred due to playing in the bowl (I suspect they are not vey frugal) and the balance goes to the SEC for later distribution to all member schools.
