Bobby Petrino now interim Arkansas coach

So, you believe that Petrino will magically uplift Arkansas’ defense in two weeks, and the Pigs will trot into Neyland and feast upon the Vols?!

There’s something wrong with some of you…
Well, we were supposed to be able to do that to State down on their turf, and we were lucky to get out of there with wheels still on the bus.

💯 it does . I didn’t say the change would propel them to a W but it is a fairly common occurrence for teams left for dead with an interim coach to find an extra gear . The fact that the interim is generally considered a more than competent offensive mind might also have an effect on Arkies performance .
A mid season HC dump is a reflection on the players effort and performance just as much as a reflection on the coach. There will always be a short term boost. But only UMass would be immune to that.

I thought same also, it was just a matter of time. Idk why people are ignoring the fact that Bobby has been running the offense anyway.

IMO, Arky made a huge mistake firing Sam now to put Bobby in. They should’ve named a different interim then found a coach. But that’s their problem not ours! We will hang 60 on them, we have a bye and Josh will have us ready to go!
IF Petrino wasn't gonna be tagged as the HC at seasons end, they surely shouldn't have allowed him the free will to start dismissing coaches, including the DC mid-season. That's alot of extra distraction, plus switching up learning schemes on the fly.

Yep. We'd better be ready next week because we'll see some things from the Hogs our coaching staff hasn't seen on film this year.
Last year their DC schemed us up good. Part of it is Nico wasn’t good enough to keep them honest. They won’t be able to play us the same way. Especially with Brazzell being such a threat this season.

I was just telling a ND fan friend of mine a couple hours ago that her team was going to end up making the Vols job in 2 weeks harder than it was going to be … turns out I was prophetic but hopefully still handle Arkie the same with or without Motorcycle man in charge
Just remember, Bobby P was the offensive coordinator for all their wins and losses this year 😎 😎 😎 😎 😎

He can fire everybody but you still have the same crappy players that gave up 42 points and 420 yards in the first HALF against a freshman QB. As long as our D holds them under 50 we should be all right

Sounds like Arkansas is writing this season off to regroup. Portal opened up for change of Head coaches. Firing the DC and Co DC indicates more than a problem. Arkansas must have something going on for this sell out that reeks of issues.

The truth probably lies somewhere between "they're in shambles, we'll destroy them by 60" and "Petrino is a crazy genius, he'll pull off the upset and win that job". I'm sticking with my belief that the Vols under Heupel just aren't likely to blow out SEC teams but on rare occasions. This game at home does have potential to be one of those rare occasions. We should win by 10-14 and not have to be on the edge of our seats for the last possession of the game.

I don’t like the timing one bit. My fear is that often, when a new coach is brought in, the players seem to get energized and have something to prove in that their previous losses were not their fault. They will have renewed hope.

Any recent examples of this?
I can only recall off top of my head, Hoke stepping in for Jones at UT.
